I just stumbled upon Tail Waggin' Celebrations, which is an actual party supply store for dogs.
If you want to throw your dog a party, this is your one-stop shop. They've got invitations, dog party hats, cakes and treats.
They've even got supplies for cat parties too.
If anyone throws a party for your dog or cat, I'd love to feature it on our homepage in our Party of the Day and blog about it.
Today was the first day I saw an episode of "Amazing Wedding Cakes" and now I'm hooked. It's on the WeTV cable network and there are some seriously cool cakes on this show.
So here are the three cakes that were featured in today's episode. My favorite is the Barcelona cake, styled after Gaudi's most famous building in Barcelona and created by Cake Alchemy in New York.
But the other two, like this turntable cake by the CakeGirls in Chicago, aren't too shabby. (When I looked at the CakeGirls website I saw that they recently had a fire that destroyed their studio. My heart goes out to them. You can read more about it here.)
And check out the incredible flowers on this traditional cake by Merci Beaucoup in LA.
We've been getting a lot of new birthday parties on the site, so I thought this was a good time to write about Birthday Party Bash, a new game for the Nintendo Wii. I have not tried it yet, but since my husband is big gamer (and is trying to turn my daughter, who just turned three, into one too), I'm sure we will own it soon.
It's exactly what it says, a virtual birthday party for up to twelve people. It has party games such as Pin the Tail, Hot Potato, Present Frenzy, Balloon Popper, Musical Chairs, and Sack Race.
There are also ten different girl and boy themed party rooms including: pirate, glamour, sports, princess, construction, stuffed animals, monsters, magical forest, army men and music to choose from.
And when it's time to cut the cake, guest can enjoy a lively rendition of "Happy Birthday" with a virtual cake on screen.
According to one reviewer on Amazon: "This is basically a series of mini-games for kids with a birthday party thrown in as a way to connect everything. It's certainly cute, but definitely not a 'birthday party in a box' as is suggested. I would not advise chucking out all your big party plans and inviting some of your kid's friends over to celebrate with this game."
Sorry parents, the planning continues...
I just saw this on the Party Box Design blog and love this idea -- DIY cupcake mix party favors.
Jessica, from Party Box Design sent her guests home with these from a recent cupcake-themed baby shower she threw.
The best thing is if you read her post on how to do it, it doesn't seem very hard or very expensive.
How cute are these cake favor boxes from Paper Cakes by Rachel. They're so cute I want to eat them.
Here are some other cute ones. (These, however, I don't want to eat.)
My last post about cakes was about the blog Cake Wrecks, and what happens when things go bad in the world of cakes. So to cleanse myself, I had to write about cakes I love the most, those that combine two of my favorite things: cake and fashion.
Sure lots of cake designers make handbag cakes, and a few make shoe cakes. But I have never seen anything like what Shinmin Li at I Dream of Cake in San Francisco has created. She has taken cake design to a whole new level and I'm blown away.
First, a couple of her incredible wedding cake designs...
Now let me give you some serious cake porn to drool over...
Yes, I need a shower too. You're welcome. :)
