What My Daughter is Going to be for Halloween...
My daughter is going to be the Statue of Liberty for Halloween, but not because she loves the Statue of Liberty. She loves the Halloween video game Costume Quest (which she plays with my husband). Her favorite character is Lucy, a scientist.
Here's Lucy...
...and her favorite costume to dress Lucy in is the "Lady Liberty" costume. (Here's another character from the game modeling the "Lady Liberty" costume.)
So my daughter will be "Lady Liberty" with black scientist glasses and little buns in her hair just like Lucy. How she is going to explain this to people, I don't know. :)
Okay, I just got back from her school parade and here she is as "Lucy from Costume Quest dressed as Lady Liberty"!
What are your kids going to be for Halloween? Please leave comments here or on Facebook letting me know.
And I hope you have a wonderful and safe Halloween!!

{PARTY ON A BUDGET} Simple Decor Ideas for your Halloween Party
Melissa Newell from My Party Passion, and our budget party contributor, is back with some easy tips on how to decorate your Halloween party with out spending a lot! Take it away Melissa...
BOO! Did I scare ya? LOL Getting ready for your Halloween Bash? Maybe it’s a monster theme? Maybe you are traditional and love the pumpkins? Whatever your theme – KNOW that quality entertaining does not have to “break the bank”! With Target dollar spot areas… dollar stores… and your creative mind you can certainly entertain on a tight budget!
Last year at our Annual Newell Family Halloween Bash I got real creative and used my Silhouette SD Machine for some SIMPLE décor! Using Dollar Store frames and black paint were my biggest expense! Check it out…
BONUS TIP – Big bang for the buck….most grocery stores, dollar stores and even pharmacies sell the cute PEEPS (ghosts and other shapes) – put them on a stick, put out some hot chocolate and watch the kids dip and drink! Swirling them into the cocoa makes them creamy! Fun to eat and won’t break the bank!
Have a great Halloween and don’t forget to stick to the budget! Until November…Party On Friends!
Thanks, Melissa, for another great post with easy ideas! To learn more about Melissa, visit her at My Party Passion and find her on Facebook or Twitter.

{DIY} How to Make Cute Halloween Pumpkin Balloons
Christine from Pure Joy Events made these cute Halloween pumpkin balloons for her recent Halloween party, and now she's sharing how she did it (with a free pumpkin template from Paper Glitter). Thanks, Christine. What a perfect Halloween party decoration!
SUPPLIES
- Paper Glitter's pumpkin balloon template
- 12" round orange balloon
- 10mm bright yellow washi tape
- 8.5" x 11" 65 lb to 100 lb white cardstock
- double-sided tape
- scissors
- sticker machine (optional)
Tip: For best results, make 1 to 2 days before the event.
Step 1: Download and print Paper Glitter's pumpkin balloon template on cardstock. (You can also download the ghost balloon template and cat balloon template here too.)
Step 2: Cut around all pieces except for the stem and apply double-sided tape to the back, or feed them through a sticker maker.
Step 3: Cut out all pieces.
Step 4: Fold along the dotted lines on the stem, then apply double-side tape to the white tab.
Step 5: Inflate the balloon with air. Tip: For size, insert the balloon into an 8 quart stockpot until it fits snuggly inside before tying the neck.
Step 6: With the neck of the balloon facing up, apply all pieces to the balloon, using the pumpkin picture from the template as a reference.
Step 7: Cut out square pieces of the washi tape and apply along the sides of the balloon, again using this picture as a reference.
We've also included the ghost balloon template and cat balloon template so you can make all three!
Awesome, Christine! I love how easy this was to make and they're soooo cute!
To learn more about Christine check her out at Pure Joy Events and on Facebook. Plus, wait until you see the parties she's added to our site... each one is more incredible than the next!

Quick and Easy Printable Halloween Decorations
We are definitely getting into the Halloween spirit at our house, so I wanted to find a fun project my daughter and I could do together yesterday.
I found these printable Halloween decorations on the HP site, printed them out, and my daughter and I went to town. They were super simple and I loved how they turned out.
Here's what the file looked like on the HP site. I printed out the files on HP Brochure and Flyer Paper and got out my scissors and glue stick.I cut out all the pieces.
My daughter and I glued them together. Then using 28 gauge galvanized wire, we hung them on our wall using this spider webbing we bought at Target.
Didn't they turn out cool? And what a perfect Sunday afternoon activity!
