Minecraft Creeper Pizza

Minecraft Creeper Pizza

We were asked by DiGiorno® to come up with a fun pizza design using their new DESIGN A PIZZA kit. The DESIGN A PIZZA kit comes with everything you need to create your own pizza masterpiece.

I knew my daughter, Lainey, would enjoy doing this. She loves creating any kind of masterpiece, especially one she can eat!

Lainey is a huge Minecraft fan, in fact she's going to Minecraft camp in a few weeks, so when we came up with the idea of making a Creeper pizza she was so excited!

The DESIGN A PIZZA kits come in three varieties:

  • Pepperoni and Sausage with Peppers & Onions
  • Spinach, Tomato & Red Onion with Pepperoni
  • Chicken, Green Peppers & Red Onions with Pepperoni.
For this project, we chose the kit with chicken, green peppers & onions, and pepperoni. Here's what this DESIGN A PIZZA kit looks like.

Because we both love pepperoni, cheese, and seasonings, those were the toppings we chose to go with for our pizza. Here are all the toppings right out of the box:

First thing we did was add the extra cheese.

Next, because everything in Minecraft comes in blocks, we had to make a block pizza. I used a square piece of  7.5" x 7.5" paper to cut it out.

Next we cut the pepperoni into squares. We needed 4 square pieces of pepperoni and one additional square cut in half and then one half cut into quarters.

Here the Minecraft design so you can see how the pepperonis are put together.

And here's Lainey adjusting the pieces.

Our finished pizza...

And since the DESIGN A PIZZA kit comes with a pack of oregano, and Creepers are green, it was the perfect touch!

What did we do with the pizza edges? We sprinkled on a little extra cheese and... delicious!

4 Favorite Parties of the Week - Aug. 11th

What a fun week it's been with parties! There were so many amazing ones added that I tried to pick an assortment of favorites. I love this pizza birthday party made to look like an old school pizzeria, a back to school party with the most insane desserts (it's back to school for us this week), a bird themed baby shower that's set in the woods that will take your breath away, an a cops and robbers Lego party that is so beautiful, creative, and most of all, fun!

Clockwise from top left:

Thanks for the great parties and hope you are enjoying the rest of your summers!

{RECIPE} Puff Pastry Pizzas Perfect for New Year's Eve!

If you are looking for a last minute New Year's Eve appetizer, I've got the perfect one. These puff pastry pizzas are quick to make (10 minutes to prep, 15 minutes to bake) and they are super delicious!

They taste like mini pizzas with the added fluffiness and richness of puff pastry.

  • 2 roma tomatoes sliced thin
  • fresh mozzerella
  • fresh basil
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan - we used a three cheese mix (fontina, asiago, and parmesan) from Wholefoods
  • olive oil
  • 1 package puff pastry dough
  • salt and pepper
makes 16

Using a knife or pizza cutter, cut puff pastry into 2" x 3" rectangles.

Brush with a light coat of olive oil. Use a fork to polk about 8 - 10 holes in the center of the pastry where you are going to place the tomato slice.

Add your thin slices of tomato.

Add slices of mozzarella.

Add about a half turn of pepper, and a pinch of salt over the mozzarella.

Sprinkle grated parmesan on top.

Add thin slices of fresh basil.

Drizzle with olive oil.

Bake in the oven at 400 degrees for 12-15 minutes.

Since it's almost New Year's, I'm serving mine with champagne shooters made with champagne, a touch of cranberry juice, and a blackberry for garnish. They're not only pretty, they're yummy!

Have a wonderful New Year's Eve! I look forward to sharing parties, recipes, crafts and all that great stuff with you in 2013!!

{TRENDS} Baking and Cooking Parties on Catch My Party

Baking and cooking are two of my favorite things to do, so I'm excited that baking and cooking parties have become a major trend on our site.

What's great about them is the built-in activity, the fact that your guests don't go home hungry, and these parties are easy to personalize!

Here are some of my favorite baking and cooking parties from our site... You'll be blown away.

Corrie S's Let's Bake Party! - What an amazing baking backdrop and table. I love the banner made out of cooking utensils and the cupcake liner garland. It really sets the stage for the whole party.

Jennifer H's Papa's Pizzeria Party - I don't know where to start...  from the fantastic dessert table, to the pizza box invitations, to the personalized chef's hats, to the place setting activities. Overall, fantastic job!!

Donna C's Little Miss Homemaker Party -- Not only did the guests bake apple pies but they also got to sew headbands (and apply lipstick)! What perfect little homemakers... My grandmother would approve. Plus, the cake and decorations are beautiful.

Adriana A's Pink Baking Party -- Here the guests made pizzas and flower cookie topiaries. Plus, don't miss the invitations with real cooking utensils. I want one of those.

MKR Creations' Chef Jr.'s 10th Birthday -- And who says cooking and baking parties have to be for girls? Here's a pizza making party for a ten-year-old boy held at a local California Pizza Kitchen.

Hayley's MasterChef Birthday Party -- While no actual baking occurred at this party (just decorating), if you like MasterChef, you will love the creativity of this party!

For more ideas and inspiration, take a look at all the baking and cooking parties on our site. I'm a big fan of this trend!
