DIY Tutorial from a Catch My Party Member -- How to Make a Streamer Backdrop

by Jillian Leslie on

Natasha B made this gorgeous backdrop for her Chocolate and Cherries Jubilee Bridal Shower out of simple streamers.

She put together a simple tutorial on her blog, Fete Fantastic, and was generous enough to let me do a quick recap here…

Materials she used:

  • Streamers
  • Scissors
  • Tape
  • Poster board

First, Natasha measured the streamers to fit the poster board, with a little excess to tape to the back of the board.

Next she used her tape to stick each streamer, top and bottom, to the back of the board, alternating colors to create vertical stripes.

Her advice:  Don’t pull the streamer too tight, you’ll need some room to create the weave effect.

After she covered the entire board with stripes, she started weaving the streamers in a horizontal pattern.

By following the same color order, she repeated weaving them through until she had covered the entire board.  Her advice:  If you don’t wish to do the weaving, you can stick with the stripes.  They look just as nice!

Here’s her finished backdrop.  Beautiful!

Thank you, Natasha, for your easy-to-follow tutorial!
