Party Recap

The clients are such an adorable couple with so much whimsy and personality, we wanted their wedding to reflect that as well. Both (collectively known as E-squared) are doctors and met in medical school with the constant urging of their friends who just knew they were meant for each other. After searching high and low, they came upon Calamigos Ranch in Malibu, CA that had all the criteria they had been looking for: outdoor, Ferris wheel, red barn, but most importantly a big tree to marry under. They had a guest list of over 200 but wanted the feel of an intimate southern country comfort.

It was important to them, and to us, that every aspect of the day was personalized, starting with the bride’s dress. The bride took her design ideas to Shin Bu Bridal for a customization. The finished product was a gorgeous modern-vintage style, but underneath the foundation was her mother’s original wedding dress. What a beautiful sentiment! We also created guest table numbers using pages from the book, “I Like You” by Sandol Stoddard Warburg – a gift the bride had given the groom during their dating days.

Their color palette was of a pale yellow, mint green, and a splash of navy blue that ran throughout the wedding from the groom’s bow ties to the bridesmaids’ dresses and shoes. We continued the color and southern country theme with handmade invitations, programs, fabrics, mason jars, and handmade paper lace lanterns.

The ceremony, officiated by the groom’s uncle, was under a great big tree draped in lights. Following the ceremony, the guests were entertained with a choreographed dance of Party Rock Anthem by the bridal party as the newlyweds made their entrance to join them. Guests were also treated with lemonades, mint julep, moon pie party favors (guests were seen roasting marshmallows through the night) and variety of sweets from Porto’s. After a tearfully sentimental toast from the maid of honor, the bride’s sister, and a hilarious one from the best man, the groom surprised his blushing bride by serenading her with his rendition of The Proclaimer’s 500 Miles.

The evening ended with a traditional Korean ceremony, paebak, representing the joining of two families. With MooMoo, the resident cow, mooing in the background and their close friends waving ribbons flags, the newly weds made their exit in a limo the groom’s father surprised them with. It was a magical, fun, whimsical, and unforgettable evening for all.
