Metallics Second Birthday Party

This is a 2nd birthday party for my daughter, which I combined with thoughts on the New Year (metallics!). We only invited family while everyone was in town for the holidays.
The cake and cupcakes are this recipe: http://www.marthastewart.com/recipe/monster-vanilla-cupcakes, using mostly organic ingredients, including cane sugar. The icing was this amazing vanilla bean buttercream: http://www.marthastewart.com/recipe/vanilla-bean-buttercream (thanks, as always, Martha!). The cake candles, pink sugar, cupcake liners, and cupcake stars are from Bake It Pretty. I made the cake banner from sparkly ribbon and lollipop sticks. The stir sticks are lollipop sticks with wooden balls glued to the top. I then glued sequin strands in gold and silver around them. The silver T and little hearts are also wooden forms with sequin strands glued on. I snatched up the gold party hat from Confetti System when it was on super sale at Urban Outfitters a while ago. And I'm obsessed with the giant silver number balloon. Those are fantastic! We served raspberry lemonade and sweet tea, sat down for dinner, and then devoured the baked goods. It was lovely.
