Party Recap

The overall look we went for with this party was an ‘edgy’ Rockstar feel with lots of graffiti elements and other things that signify being ‘cool’ for a group of 8 year old boys such as a graffiti photo booth set-up with a punk rock hair station, rock star face-painting, photo props such as inflatable instruments and colourful wigs and yummy lips/moustache lollipops provided by my friend Tammy from Little Dance Invitations. Tammy also sent me the gorgeous orange buckets which were filled with bottles of soda, ‘too cool for school’ whoopee cushions, glow sticks and doubled as lolly bags for the kids to fill up from the lolly table on their way home. As always, I turned to Jenny from Concept Designs for all the graphic design work for my printables. I asked Jenny to create a graffiti style backdrop using my chosen colours of orange, red, yellow and black and I tried to keep the rest of the decorative elements of the table as clean as possible with lots of stark white to contrast with the colourful graffiti. Hung across the top of the dessert table was a cute red, yellow, orange and black transparency garland that was created for me by Isabel from TransparentEsDecor who I found on etsy.
One day I spied an old TV on the side of the road destined for the tip and so I rescued it, two coats of white spray paint later and it was repurposed as a cake stand with an old-fashioned white painted microphone perched on top as the cake topper. Bek from Sweet Arts by Bek created the clever ‘equaliser’ style cookies and a good old-fashioned ‘rock star diet’ of burgers & fries were recreated in cupcake form by The Cupcake Parlour. I had a ‘King of Pop-corn’ station which of course none of the kids understood, but I thought was hil-ar-ious!
Layered jelly and chocolate mousse pots, plus several jars of colourful lollies and wrapped milk chocolate bars finished off the dessert table. No Rock Star party is complete without a ‘chill out zone’ – this was provided in the form of an amazing tent set up in the back yard by Julia from Tents 4 Events who themed the tent beautifully and created a stunning and relaxing zone for the parents of our little rock stars to enjoy.
All the party fun was captured by Zac from Mr & Mrs Smith Photography
