Party Recap

My daughter's birthday just so happens to be on St. Patrick's day and it just so happened to fall on a Saturday. I insisted I must at least incorporate the GREEN to keep in spirit of St. Patrick's day. I also wanted it to look vintage and be girly and I also didn't want to go the route of pink and green as it seems to overdone to me so I went with complete boy colors which proved very difficult for me. I also had to stay with in a very modest budget.

Party Highlights

  • Best Moment

The 1st birthday cake eating is always fun to watch. Babies love making messes. Although she didn't go as crazy as i thought she would.

  • Most Touching Moment

I made a photobook that documented my daughters first year. The grandmas loved this.

  • Best Dressed

KAra of course, her outfit was ordered off etsy to coordinate with the colors of the party.

  • What People Ate

For my daughter's first birthday we did a baked potato bar with all the fix-ens. Since a first birthday is a milestone that involves more adults, Grandparents, aunts, mommy &daddy. It was important for us to serve adults as well as my little one, AND she loves potatoes! Being a frugal mommy, price is always a concern and since this was such a cheap choice I was very pleased!

  • What People Drank

I made a pitcher of tea and bought a half-gallon jug of chocolate milk for the kids.

  • Desserts

For this particular event, I just kept the sweets to a minimum. Cake and ice cream seemed like more than enough after those very filling potatoes!

  • Party Favors

I again kept it very simple and cheap. I used old baby food jars and decorated them with ribbon and painted the lids. Hobby lobby always has great sales on ribbon so i used 3 different kinds that made the party look more sophisticated!

  • Activities / Games

For a first birthday, games seem like a waste. Especially learning from my first child. They are really too young to play games and all the attention and interaction makes them tired easily. Opening presents was more than enough activity for my little one.

  • Budget

I believe my overall expense totaled around $200( and that's probably a high estimate), that's with ordering the outfit, invites, cake and presents! I like to keep things as cheap as possible.
