Party Recap

This year, my son wanted a Super Mario Bros. birthday party! Actually he wanted a Super Mario Bros party last year, but I talked him into a Robots & Rockets party since my party business already had these cool party supplies. So when it came up again this year, I had to make good and give him the party he always wanted! It was so much fun creating and designing all of these party goods and I am excited to share with you these super fun & easy party ideas.

I was so inspired as I searched for great party ideas and it was a blast creating all of the details! I first created the party invitations! My son thought he looked great as Super Mario! I used the same circle picture of him as Mario to make return address labels for the envelopes.

The invitations were my inspiration for the personalized custom party banner

I created a welcome sign out of cardboard cake plates, scrapbooking paper and custom printed images I created. This immediately got moved to my son's room door after the party.

The party hats were especially fun to create! My son had a lot of input into the final designs. I create designs for party hats exclusively for my party business so it was fun to create these!

But the most fun was creating all of the goodies for the Super Mario candy bar!

So they aren't actually "cake pops" but they are donut holes from Krispy Kreme dipped in green colored chocolate with white fondant circles. A lot less time than the traditional cake pops and just as yummy!

Star chocolate molds made this super cute star power candy!

Chocolate covered Oreo cookies with molded candy stars!

Atomic Fire Balls! Get 15 for $1 from Party City.

Seriously, it doesn't get any easier than a bucket of large marshmallows! And if you can get Cadbury's Chocolate Egg candy, those are really Yoshi's eggs, but I found Gobstoppers and they worked just as well.

The Mario Mustaches were a huge hit with all of the kids! And so easy to make with chocolate mustache molds and dark chocolate candy melts. I took a photo of each of our party guests with the Super Mario hat & a mustache and included them in our thank you notes. A great keepsake for everyone and we now have a great "lineup" of all of our party guests for our photo album!

But the show stopper of the entire party were the cupcakes! The fondant Super Mario cupcake toppers from LIVCreativity were absolutely AMAZING!!!

At the end of the party, all of our guests got to fill up a treat bag with items from our candy bar. I found the bags at Hobby Lobby and made custom labels for each of the bags. I actually had all of the labels personalized so everyone would know which bag belonged to who.

And for the ultimate Super Mario party favor...chocolate Wii remotes molded with white candy melts! To ensure they wouldn't break, I added a thin layer of foam core behind the chocolate and for an added party favor, I slipped a Wii Remote skin in a Super Mario Bros design in the back of each package.

I made the bucket medallion using an image I printed in the star shape and cut out and glued to the top of a pleated ribbon circle that I found at Michael's. You can also create these from paper. So easy and makes a huge impact!

After all the guests were gone and we were reminiscing about the party, I asked my son, "Which of your parties has been the best one yet? Pirate (when he turned 3), Knights & Princesses (turning 4), Where the Wild Things Are (age 5), Robots & Rockets (age 6), or Super Mario Bros?" Without skipping a beat, he replied "SUPER MARIO BROS!!!"
