Party Recap

Imogen was born just brimming with personality. She has always been in a race to coo, to walk and to entertain everyone and her twitter about the house cannot but help to bring a smile to your face, especially when you are bombarded with her numerous cuddles and kisses. It seemed a no-brainer to make her first birthday / naming day party a theme with a little tweeting love bird, and so Lovebird Tweet was born.
The backdrop for the party was actually Imogen’s bedroom wall that I handpainted while pregnant with her. It tied so well into the theme, although I think that the carpet (and subsequent food rubbed in) resented me for quite a while after the party!

I was really happy with how the dessert table turned out, especially since it was all home cooked by my mother and myself in the wee hours of the previous night! Some of the highlights being:
*marshmellow birds that were hidden inside a specially made paper mache egg,
*chocolate birds nests complete with little chocolate eggs inside,
* birdy cake pops,
* large sunflower lolly buffets,
* a pink lemonade fountain
* and an adults only sideboard featuring wine with matching lovebird wine labels and more adult chocolates.

The only downfall of the party was that inclement weather forced the party to stay inside instead of enjoying the planned activities which included a jumping castle, fishing for birdies game, an egg and spoon race, an egg hunt and bird crafts.

Free play inside activities provided just as much entertainment and the adults were kept thoroughly amused with the introduction of a game that gave all adult participants a bird name for the day (think hilarious titles like ‘Lauren Bok Bok Bacall', 'Boris Pecker'). Failure to call the person the bird name ended up in some hefty penalties.

The day overall went off just beautifully.

    Where did you get the white trees that have the flowers etc. on them?

    Hi Kasey, I'm an Australian, so I'm not sure if the Australian company 'Kaisercraft' exports to the US, but they are a fabulous scrapbook & beyond the page company. I used their 'wood family tree' and only used half the kit and created my own trees. The flowers from memory were from Martha Stewart scrapbooking and the felt hearts I made myself. :) Hope that helps!

    where did you buy this tree? I need them for my daughter's 1st birthday!

    Hi Kimberly, I actually bought the tree from a company called Kaisercraft and you paint it up yourself. I'm Australian, so my stores won't be helpful, but I'm sure if you google 'Kaisercraft' and the product is called 'family tree' that you'll find local stockists! Good luck!
