Party Recap

ONCE UPON A TIME there was a Mummy Bunny, who lived in Zurich Seefeld, and who loved organizing themed parties in her free time. For her daughters 1st birthday, she planned a Beatrix Potter themed party to perfection, which included all the gang - Peter Rabbit, Jemima Puddle Duck, Benjamin Bunny and Hunca Munca, to name but a few...

The party theme was inspired by a friend, who is collecting Mummy Bunny's daughter the whole Beatrix Potter book collection. The stories and characters are so lovely and perfect for a baby party.

Mummy Bunny started by hand making invitations to look like mini books. She made up a little story, using her daughter's name ("The Tale of Little Miss Berger") and asked that people join the party in order to "see how the adventure continues". The invitations were posted to each guest with Peter Rabbit stamps, and guests were asked to send back the RSVP cards which were included with the invitation.

Mummy Bunny's next challenge was to find the ideal location for the party: she wanted to recreate an English garden tea party atmosphere, so she hired a little house along the lake of Zurich, which had trees and a perfect Mr. McGregor's garden feeling about it.

In order to ensure that all of Beatrix Potter's friends would be present at the party, Mummy Bunny made lots of character cut-outs to decorate. She set-up a large buffet table and labeled all the food with fun names, such as "Peter Rabbit’s Carrot Cakes". To add some charm, she made a pastel pink ribbon back-drop for the buffet, and decorated it with bunting which had photos of Little Miss Berger incorporated into them - there was one photo for each month of her first year, so you could see how much she had grown.

Mummy Bunny and her super-helpers spent the evening before the party baking and cooking up lots of delicious treats: two cupcake towers, flower lollipops, baskets for Mrs. Tiggywinkle hedgehog breads, hummus and carrots, and little jars of cookies n treats especially for the baby bunnies amongst the guests.

To decorate the rest of the lake house, Mummy Bunny added handmade pin wheels and personalized bunting. To ensure visitors didn't get lost, there were signs, such as "Welcome to Mr. McGregor's Garden" on the gate and "Diaper Patch" on the diaper room door.

Mummy Bunny prepared a basket with Beatrix Potter character masks and bunny ears for the kiddies (and adults!) to wear in the photos... And she personalized some t-shirts with "Once upon a time" stories from the adventures which took place in the books.

Mummy Bunny wasn't the only one dressed up - Little Miss Berger wore a skirt made out of a darling bunny fabric with a matching t-shirt (both hand made by Mummy Bunny!), and later on she wore just a tutu, so she could enjoy a "Smash the Cake" session, by Andaleeb Lilley Photography.

Framed photos and poems, soft-toy carrots, cabbages, fruits and plastic watering cans, and a box filled with party bags were added to a table in the "Little People Room" as props... And Mummy Bunny set-up a tray of baby-friendly squeezy tubes and Peter Rabbit carrot puree to keep little hungers at bay. Children were given Beatrix Potter labeled mineral water bottles and apple juice cartons to quench their thirst, while Mummy and Daddy Bunnies sipped on wine and beers on the terrace.

A party is not complete without Emilie Graham from Baby Sensory, who was hired to entertain babies and toddlers with music, dancing, singing, sign language, bubbles etc. As a special surprise for Mummy Bunny, Emilie finished off her sessions with a brilliant Peter Rabbit puppet show, which was loved by both children and adults.

To end the party, everyone sung Happy Birthday to Little Miss Berger and ate the delicious Peter Rabbit carrot-patch garden cake (made by Mummy Bunny and her super-helpers).

But the happy smiles did not stop there. The take-home gift for all little ones were personalized "SomeBunny Loves You" t-shirts (designed and made by Mummy Bunny) and bags filled with sweet treats. Adults were not forgotten either: they were given yummy Jemima Puddle Duck and Peter Rabbit chocolate bars, which were reported not to have lasted farther than the garden gate, once they had said their good byes.

All-in-all it was a fantastic party and Mummy Bunny wishes it could have lasted longer. All that is left to do now, is start writing the Thank You cards to guests!
