Party Recap

Our twin boys turned 10 this summer. They wanted a farm party so we had Carters Mobile Petting Zoo come. Since we live in AZ and it gets hot quickly in July, we had a morning party. We had both boys and girls attend, ranging in age from 3-12 and the animals were a big hit for everyone. The star of the party was a baby pig named "pinkie'.

Party Highlights

  • First To Arrive

    The animals, of course!

  • What People Ate

It was a morning party, so my husband and I did breakfast burritos, breakfast bar style, with homemade tortillas, scrambled eggs, sausage, cheese, scallions, salsa and guacamole. We did them breakfast bar style so people could make their own with whatever fillings they chose. Cake was a homemade white cake with vanilla whipped frosting and a simple strawberry border embellishment that went with the farm theme.

  • DECORATIONS

We kept things simple and in keeping with the theme. Red checked tablecloth and blue and red tablewear and cutlery for inside. Outside, we got 4 haybales from the near by feed store and flanked them with balloons. This made a great spot for each guest to have a photo taken with the petting zoo animal of their choice.

  • Most Touching Moment

The boys signing "Thank you come my party" to each guest.

  • Total Party Budget: $300

This was a birthday party for two children and we came in at under $300. The petting zoo was $175 and the rest was spent on food and decorations. My husband and I made all the food and I made the cake. Gift bags were filled with plastic farm animals that we purchased at Michaels. I love keeping the birthday about "the birthday" and not about how over the top these things can get.
