Kayla's Mad Hatter Tea Party
ByParty Recap
This was the year the remake of Alice In Wonderland with Johnny Depp came out and Kayla was in love with the movie. We created "mad hat" style invitations using scrapbook paper and embellishments found at a local craft store. The garden of the tea house was the perfect spot to create a "wonderland" using paper lanterns, old wooden signs and teacup props. I scoured yard sales and flea markets for old teacups and anything unusual or whimsical to create centerpieces for the table. "Drink Me" bottles of lemonade were created using colored bottles from the craft store, "Eat Me" appetizers were part of the tea house menu. Our favorite waitress dressed as Alice and I hired a dear friend to entertain us as the Mad Hatter. Guests were asked to wear their finest hats. My sister-in-law created the delicious cookies and cream topsy-turvy cake and an adorable top hat was used as the decorative top.
The day turned out perfect and the adults enjoyed it just as much as the kids.
