Party Recap
I was so very excited about the new Disney Cinderella live-action movie that I had to host this party to celebrate in a big way! This was a party that called for being set up out of doors and I am thankful I can go outdoors – since I am in sunny Florida! I am so lucky to have these purple and gold upholstered dining chairs for a party such as this. I think they give a very ‘royal’ feel to the event. Anytime you move indoor furniture out of doors, it makes your party seem extra special, after all, you have gone to all of the trouble to move the furniture! I painted IKEA’s Ung Drill Frames gold and hung them with ribbons from a nearby tree to set the backdrop for the primary food table. Tea sandwiches cut into crown shapes were served up to guests, along with Pepperidge Farm Golden Butter Crackers in butterfly shapes. topped with chive flavored cream cheese and a cucumber slice. Along with those, I served skewers of colorful fruits, strawberries, blackberries, grapes and pineapple, and cute little mice made out of cheese. Setting up my food displays was easy, incorporating lots of gold like the pictures I have seen of the ornate gold carriage that will carry Cinderella to the Ball. I made cute little brownie bites by cutting my fudge brownies into rounds, topping each with a spritz of buttercream frosting and then decorating them, some with a decorative butterfly and others with royal icing flowers.
My table centerpiece was a gorgeous garland of jewel-toned silk flowers which I added some additional blooms to. To really theme it to the party, I added some colorful plumes and of course those Cinderella icons, the golden carriage and a couple of small gold pumpkins. Two small pumpkins from my stash of Halloween decorations got the same gold treatment. The table was set with a beautiful blue fabric reminiscent of Cinderella's ballgown and was then dressed up with gold paper doilies, purple chargers, gold dinner plates and topped with dessert plates featuring gold crowns. Each place setting held a burgundy linen napkin secured with a blue bow and each plate topped with a tiny 'glass' slipper adorned with a butterfly.
