Party Recap

When the dad-to-be brought home a giant sock monkey, the mom-to-be loved it and the shower theme was born. The brown and red color scheme needed a little blue thrown in to make it pop. With a little tissue paper (only about $12 worth) I was able to create some paper poms and some cute paper tassels to brighten up the background and the table. The large sock monkey that started the whole theme looked adorable on the candy table. The centerpiece for the food table was a tiny red wooden chair with another sock monkey. I designed the invitations, menu cards, and goodie bag tags all using Publisher and just printed them out on some card stock from the scrapbook section at Hobby Lobby. Small brown paper bags with tags that read "How Sweet of You to Come" around a sock monkey's sweet face made cute and simple party favors for the guests to take home.

Party Highlights

  • Desserts

The decadent dessert table featured Banana Split Cupcakes and Cherry Coke Cupcakes as well as a Candy Bar full of brown (chocolate) and red candies. The candy bar was, as usual, a HUGE hit.

  • Party Favors

Take Home Bags for Candy Bar

  • Best Moment

The best moment of the shower was when the mom and dad-to-be walked in and saw everything. They LOVED it!

  • What People Ate

The food table was full of some of the mom and dad-t0-be's favorites. There were Caprese Skewers - which had the great red color that tied them in, Goat Cheese Orange Marmalade Crostini, Little Pizzas, Tomato Cheddar Tartletts, Mini Ruben Bites and lots of fresh fruit.

  • What People Drank

Guests enjoyed Coca Cola in glass bottles. We served them in a galvanized tub and tied a bottle opener to the side with raffia to add to the vintage look and feel of the rest of the shower. And, since the mom-to-be didn't need too much caffiene, we also had Monkey Madness punch (cranberry and pineapple punch) which had a great red color that tied in with the color scheme of the shower.
