Party Recap

This year's Valentine's /my birthday dinner party theme was " The Great Gatsby". It was so exciting to prepare for it, from the menu, the dessert table, "prohibition bar", to the appetizers, selection of period music, and favors. I wanted the evening to feel classy and bring an almost authentic 1920's atmosphere. I was so happy because all of the guests were excited and awaiting this day and talked about what to wear which pumped up my creative juices even more. I am very frugal and find it extremely frivolous to spend too much on things that you will only use once, This is why I stick to plain white china that I then embellish with napkins and knick knacks that give me the feel of what Im looking for without breaking the bank and really splurge on a top notch dinner that my guests would appreciate as much as a dinner from a fine restaurant (or at least that's what I believe). Everyone had an alias that they used and that was also on their seating cards. To get in the place, there was a password. It was so exciting seeing everyone arrive dressed up and ready to have a great time! The signature drink was "Daisy's Mint Julep. Aside from appetizers that consisted of bacon wrapped prunes, shrimp cocktail, stuffed mushrooms, and tomato, olive and mozzarella skewers, was the yummy dinner, pork crown roast with a cornbread stuffing, herbed pesto baby potatoes, cranberry almond salad, and wild rice that everyone enjoyed to the fullest. For dessert we had an assortment of sweets; lemon cake that was a hit, macaroon bars, lemon coconut squares, and other sweets. It really was a fun and amazing evening. Our last guests left at 3 am. It was a fun, fun party indeed.
