Party Recap

I was ecstatic when my youngest daughter told me she'd like a Neverland themed party for her 7th birthday. We spent the summer creating the decorations, sewing hats, and painting signs together. Everything was selected by her (though her sister and pinterest did contribute a couple of ideas). We converted each part of our back yard into a spot from the Neverland map, and it worked out perfectly. The week of the party, my girls helped me make the cupcakes, which were each designed by the birthday girl, and they came together beautifully! It was a perfect day!

Party Highlights

  • What People Ate

Party foods which we directed toward the theme: Lost Boys Trail Mix, Tick-Tock Crocodile Gummies, Pirate Poppers, Tink's Toadstools, Fairy Fruit Saland, Seaweed Straw, Pirate Booty, Redskin Potato Salad, and Pan's Pizza.

  • What People Drank

We selected Apple Izze juice cans for the green color, labeling it "Neverflower Nectar" and also provided "Lagoon Water."

  • Desserts

My daughter designed four different kinds of cupcakes, which we made ourselves... The Tinkerbell design was french vanilla cupcake with vanilla-almond buttercream frosting, green candy-melt wings and gold star sprinkles. The mermaid design was blue velvet cupcake with pale blue vanilla-coconut buttercream and turquoisefondant tail, plus gold pearls. The Peter Pan design was a chocolate cupcake with green buttercream frosting and a red fondant feather, to look like his hat. Hook was a red velvet cupcake with vanilla cream cheese frosting (to look like his sleeve) and black and gold fondant hooks... Her designs were such a mishmash of colors, so I decided to try to tie everything together with some gold accents, inspired by the book cover. I had never worked with fondant before, and I was so relieved everything turned out this well!

  • Party Favors

The kids each took home a set of tinkerbell wings, pirate hats and hooks, or a Peter Pan hat (homemade from felt). These items also served as decorations during the party.

  • Activities / Games

It was a pool party, so most of the time was spent with the kids playing around in the pool. We got a large "pirate island" pool float and a crocodile. My daughter's favorite activity was the treasure hunt. I wrote five rhyming clues and hid them in plastic bottles around the yard. The kids had to solve each clue in order to find the next one and eventually the treasure chest pinata, made from a cardboard box. It was filled with things to go with the theme- pirate spyglasses, pencils, Tink necklaces and bracelets, flower hair clips, Tink gummies, etc...
