Party Recap

My oldest daughter, Kyla, turned seven April 5th and I'm so excited to share with you her birthday celebration! When I first started planning her party I sat down with her to see what kind of birthday party she wanted to have. She told me she wanted a slumber party. So I said "Ok... I think I can manage that." (Simple enough right?) I asked her "What’s the theme?" She replied "Something Fabulous!" I'm thinking to myself that could be anything-thanks K for so much inspiration. She LOVES Disney Princesses and one of her fav's is Princess Jasmine (I loved her too as a child. I've seen Aladdin like 50 million times) thus Arabian Nights: Genie in a Bottle was born!

Four of her closest friends were invited to join her for her royal celebration! I put the rolled up invitations in a glass genie bottle filled with sand, decorated them with some ribbon and hand delivered them to her classmates.

As the lovely ladies entered the royal palace Arabian music played softly in the background, while the smell of vanilla inscents filled the air. They were greeted and directed into the changing area where they could transform into magical genies. Each child completed their look with temporary henna tattoos and Bindi's.

No party at the palace would be complete without dinning at a table FIT for a King (or PRINCESS for that matter : ) Draped with lush silk table linens, plush throw pillows, mini genie lamps and many more surprises this kid friendly table was defiantly a big hit!

The birthday girl received a special birthday hat made by yours truly. The napkin rings were also a DIY project that I had a lot of fun creating- LOVE anything that involves my trusty glue gun (Tutorial coming soon)

First the ladies enjoyed some fabulous Mediterranean food: yummy lamb with yogurt dipping sauce, rice and shrimp kabobs, pita bread with hummus, Mediterranean chicken and vegetable kabobs, and delicious fruit kabobs.

After eating a special guest showed up to teach the ladies how to belly dance. The ladies received their very own finger cymbals and attached to each costume waist was a custom made hip band; also known as hip scarf.

Other activities included Make your own sand bottle and magic carpet coaster.

For dessert with had a DELICIOUS birthday cake prepared by Sugar Bakers (www.www.sugarbakerscakes.com)

Since I had my daughter’s sleepover at the Hampton Inn at the National Harbor the ladies also went for a swim after all the party festivities. Needless to say they were ready for bed and sound to sleep shortly after arriving back to the room. I do hope you've enjoyed the party. We had a BLAST!

I love every detail of your party from the invitations, to the costumes, the table setting, etc. The girls look like they are having so much fun. I first saw your pictures when looking at the photographers website and googled you to find out more. Very well executed. I love, love, love the pink and blue. Where did you find those costumes? All I can say is - TO DIE FOR! I am in MD and hopefully we can work together soon.
