Party Recap

Maybe it's my age and the era that I grew up in, but I just love Robots!! I think it all started in 2nd grade when I got a Speak n' Spell for Christmas. Do you remember these? I could play with it for hours! I loved the robot voice and the way it would flash the words across the screen in that bright blue lettering. I was my most favorite toy ever! When we decided to add Robots to our theme choices at Teacups and Trucks, I couldn't wait to host our first party!

Decorations-
Because we have such a stark white party area, our job is made easier when it comes to decorating! We don't have to worry about trying to hide ugly walls or covering up windows, but our job is made more difficult by trying to add depth and color to any party we do. The first idea we had was to create a large robot on the massive white wall that sort of anchored the room. We didn't want to break the bank with having a sign created and printed, so we decided to construct a robot using square and round paper plates. Super easy and it really defined the space!
On one side of the dessert table we created a large red balloon with a vinyl robot sticker made at our store, "Balloon Bar" and on the other side a large robot was made using 2 large cardboard boxes, wrapping paper and 2 wrapping paper tubes. On the table we made a cake and cupcake stand using cake circles, aluminum foil dryer pipes and connectors. This made the perfect stand for the Robot cake head and cupcakes made by our favorite local baker, Cake My Day. Favors were made using applesauce cups, smarties, rolos, tic tacs, starburst, wiggly eyes and a few glue dots. We also put adorable robot cake pops in a box covered in silver wrapping paper and hung tissue paper tassels from the front of the table.

Our kids table was set using cute Robot dinner plates, plastic milk cups made in our shop with robot decals, robot antennas made with head bands and silver pipe cleaners, robot cut outs put on dowels placed in silver tins and a chalkboard robot with the birthday child's name on it. Our most favorite addition to the party decor were the "live wires" we hung above the table! They shook and lit up if you touched them or made a loud noise. The kids LOVED them! We scored this find at a local Halloween shop. TIP- when Halloween stores close at the end of the season, they usually get rid of all of their store props for cheap!! We got these for $10.00!

ACTIVITIES-
The children made robot costumes using a blue posterboard, ribbon, foam cutouts, a paper plate and a robot brad to attach it. They also created robots using marshmallows, toothpicks and various candy pieces. The birthday boy enjoyed using his robot arm to pick up crayons and color in his adorable thank you cards too!
