Party Recap

One of my close friends asked me to help her with her son’s birthday party who is totally crazy about Big Hero Six! She gave me full control on creating the party setting (which I did not mind at all).
As the party was taking place in a sports hall, I knew I had to create a central point within the room. I cornered off a square area with 4 balloon centrepieces in the colours, purple, red and white. To keep within the colour-scheme, I placed a balloon arch on top of the party table to include the birthday boy’s name HUGO. On each of the chairs I attached Baymax masks.
Every child loves sweets (so do I) and placed a Big Hero Six themed sweet table near the entrance to create an instant WOW factor! With the personalized backdrop, props, tags and glassware the sweets table was a huge hit. The overall planning took me 4 weeks which involved searching for ideas, items, props and matching sweets!
The best thing about planning your own party or styling someone else’s is that you can use your own creativity and ideas and make them come to life. It is very difficult to put your trust in a party planner not knowing if they really understand what you are looking for. Write your ideas down, look up images of what sort of party theme you want to go for. If you are having a sweet or desert table, think about your colour scheme and search for sweets and deserts that match your theme.

Worst thing about planning your party – forgetting your tools! Never forget to bring lots of tape (especially double sided, balloon hangers, scissors, back up helium cannister (surely some balloons will pop during set up).
