Party Recap

Brpoklyn's Winter ONEderland was for my little girls first birthday. I hoped to capture the the best parts of winter (from sunny California). This took the use of snow powder and several buckets of water and some handy work to create a "snow pit". We hung paper lanterns in varying heights and sizes from the pergola over the snow pit to feel like falling snow. We also used a snow machine (more like bubbles) to let it snow on command. Inside I tried to make guests feel warm and cozy in a large open space. Furniture was moved and tables and chairs brought in. The colors used were aqua and pink (it was a girls party so there had to be pink). A kids table was set up for arts & crafts. There was a warming station and a theme specific dessert table.
Brooklyn had a blast running around and playing in the snow pit. But her favorite part was her cake!

Party Highlights

  • What People Ate

We served heavy appetizers; homemade bruschetta, tortellini skewers, and an antipasto platter were among the favorites.

  • What People Drank

The main attraction was the warming station. Two keruigs were set up with coffee, tea, and hot chocolates. All the fixings were available as well as some kaluha and baileys for the mommies and daddies. There was also soda and melted snow (water bottles labeled melted snow).

  • Desserts

A dessert table was set up inside and cotton candy served fresh outside. The desert table had theme specific desserts. Homemade cupcakes filled with snow (marshmallow fluff). Polar ice caps (meringues), snow balls (fresh donut holes), etc.

  • Party Favors

Guest took home a bag of snow to go with instructions on how to make a bowl of snow at home. There was also an adoption center set up with penguin stuffed animals.

  • Activities / Games

The main attraction was the "snow pit". Inside there was an arts & crafts table with foam snowflakes to be decorated and homemade snow and cookie cutters to play with. Inside we also had a "snowball toss" which was styrofoam balls and two buckets.
