Party Recap

After a very challenging year, with a non-sleeping baby, we celebrated Connor’s 1st birthday with our friends and family who had been so supportive! I love the idea of a red and white stripe theme, as it reminds me of an old style carnival, but we mixed in Vintage green china ware for the serving platters/cake stands & classic blue with a gold trim for the tea set. I decided to style the occasion as a Vintage Garden Tea Party, to celebrate with a touch of class. Our daughter Amelia (5 years), the budding Chef helped plan the food for the children, which left me to focus on the decorations and adults menu.

The entire decorations and menus were style around our Red and White Stripe Theme, a splash of Vintage Green, with a few custom made personal touches of our gorgeous little boy Connor. These included invitations, custom made cupcake toppers (with stickers of Connor’s face from pictures over the 1st year), mini menu table signage, red & white stripe plates, napkins, portion cups, straws, cupcake wrappers, treat boxes etc.

The table was set up in front of a window, so I framed the backdrop with a soft cream curtain, hung a homemade custom garland and HUGE red honeycomb balls for a fun feature!

We had our junior Chef prepare a range of treats for the children attending: teacup biscuits, skateboard biscuits, kid friendly rocky road, teddy racing cars, mini club sandwiches, mini cupcakes served with pink lemonade in mini glass milk bottles with of course red & white striped paper straws. The adults enjoyed Red Velvet cupcakes with cream cheese icing complete with edible red glitter, an array of Club sandwiches, scones with jam & cream, a lattice apple pie, lemon tart, a variety of flavoured teas (served in a gorgeous baby blue china tea set) and a fabulous old fashioned punch (served in custom red & white stripe paper cups)!

Everyone enjoyed the self serve red & white sweets buffet (Red Vines, Jaffas, Cool Mints, Jelly Beanz, Yoghurt Sticks, Gummy Bears to name a few), complete with unique old style sweet jars, an old fashioned popcorn maker and for an extra fun touch we had a chocolate fountain with fruit and marsh mellow sticks ... the sweets and treats definitely added an excitement to the party and the sunny day added to this very special Garden Tea Party.

Amelia and I made the cake because she is so into baking, so it looks a little rough on the lettering but lots of love was an essential ingredient! Each family received their own Treat Box, complete with a sticker of Connor’s face.

Fresh flowers (red and white arrays of course) and white linen and lace table clothes were included to complete the settings!
