Oh my goodness, what a fun day we had for Delilah's first birthday!!
Delilah is a really sunny, smiley girl so we had a Rainbow theme for her big day.
I had a lot of fun putting it together but my favourite decoration/DIY project was the rainbow made of origami butterflies. It was one of the first things people saw as they entered the party space, and I thought it showcased the cake and inside food/drinks table really nicely.
I created the invites with images gratefully downloaded from http://paperglitter.blogspot.com and www.mygrafico.com, and the photo of Delilah on the invite was taken by a photographer friend Peta Anne Garett (www.visualdesigns.com.au).
As for food, most of it was rainbow-related. The fairy bread was probably my favourite - it's often only found in Australia but well worth making for any child's party. It was such a hit with the kids at Delilah's party, that's for sure. I also made rainbow cookies, had a rainbow of fruit, rainbow vegies to dip with and of course the cloud cake wasn't just plain white cake in the middle.
For activities the kids had a homemade pinata with loads of fun prizes, rainbow colouring in, playdoh and a few party favourites like hide and go seek.
Party favours were balloons, chocolates and lollies in cute little take out boxes, wrapped in yarn of all the colours of the rainbows. Again, the images for the favour box labels were gratefully downloaded from http://paperglitter.blogspot.com and www.mygrafico.com.
A big thanks to everyone who helped on the day, and for all our wonderful family and friends who were there to celebrate this very special occasion.
