Who could have guessed that what started in a grungy beach bar would eventually lead to vows in paradise? Such is the story for Megan and Michael, who happened upon each other one evening in Newport Beach, California ,and instantly bonded over their Northwestern roots. From then on, the two were inseparable and their whirlwind romance was a match made in heaven.
Looking for a stress-free wedding, the couple had agreed on a destination wedding and decided on a fabulous wedding in Cabo San Lucas. Unfortunately, three weeks out from the big day, Hurricane Odile struck and put their wedding site underwater. Before panic could settle in, the pair and their planner worked together to move all of their wedding plans to Puerto Vallarta – all the way across Mexico! The transition went off without a hitch and Megan and Michael still enjoyed their lovely week in paradise with friends and family.
The carefree nature of the couple resonated in their laidback, casual wedding. Michael, along with his groomsmen, sported matching black Nike shoes as a tribute to Michael’s home state of Oregon. Megan’s bridesmaids picked their own dresses for a charming variety of coral accents. That being said, all of them ended up soaked at the end of the night when the couple and their wedding party jumped into the resort pool fully dressed!
Megan described her wedding experience in three words – memorable, successful, and perfect. “My husband and I really cherished the fact that we had an entire week to spend with our guests, rather than one night like a typical wedding,” Megan shared. “Our guests bonded. We made memories.”
The pair has plans to travel back to Mexico to visit Cabo San Lucas, just to see how things would have been. Still, Megan asserts that she wouldn’t have changed a single thing about their magical wedding in paradise.
