Party Recap

Most little boys tend to love Superheros so we decided on that Flynn's 6th birthday. Lots of fun games and food, with much inspired by others (to all party pinners on Catch My Party and Pinterest, I say thanks).

His invitation was a yellow Chuppa Chup lollipop, with a batman mask and cape with logo, and the details of the party on the top of the cape. I made the underside of the cape black also.

  • Activities / Games

Games: Free the frozen heros and defeat Mr Freeze Flynn's favourite game was the Frozen superheros where Mr Freeze, one of Batman's villains, had frozen all the superheros in ice and it as the kids job to free them. I bought superhero minifigures, like Lego but the cheap versions from NZ $2 shops. I froze these in ice in small containers of ice. The key to having them in the middle of the ice was to freeze them in two parts as they float to the top of the water in the first freeze making extraction too easy. Then the second water is added you have to be careful as the first ice may crack with the temperature difference. I poured the second amount of water in over the back of a teaspoon which made it less likely to break. Hulk Smash With a cardboard box brick wall and Hulk's mask and hands, the children had to say "Hulk Smash" and break through the wall, they then had to use both fists to smash flat bottomed icecream cones - messy but fun. Also crushed flat bottomed ice-cream cones with the Hulk Hands. Captain America's Shield For this game we had Frisbees with Captain America design in paper stuck on. The children each had to draw a villainous face on a paper cup, we talked about how the eyebrows would look etc. Then they were stacked in a tower formation and the children had to see how many they could knock down. Bulk Up Hulk Another idea inspired by others. With a cardboard box painted and angled to resemble Hulk the children had to toss 3 green soft balls, food pellets, into Hulk's mouth. "To the Batmobile, Robin" For this we used black paper to make paper planes and the adults at the party helped the children to fold their paper plane. I had printed a picture of batman's head and reversed it also, then glued these back to back, and stapled it to the top of the batmobile so that it looked like he was piloting it. I also had a batman logo printed which they stuck to the back of the "batmobile". The competition was to see how far the batmobiles would go (also enjoyed by the adults who wanted their fold technique to go the furtherest).
