Party Recap

I have been dying to throw a GAL-entine's event! As far as I know, it has not been done here in South Africa, but it is ever-so-popular on overseas party platforms! I just adore the thought of getting together your gal pals for either a brekkie, champagne brunch or special dinner and celebrating friendship! When a friend asked me to host her birthday meal at my home, my brain immediately sprinted out of the starting blocks and literally ran full-throttle! I was actually getting a chance to DO THIS, and the birthday happened to coincide with Valentine's Day (one week after), so the timing was perfect! I decided on the theme of 'Rose' all Day' as my friend is crazy about champagne, and since I anticipated a very unique event, I approached my vendors for their services and talents and they were super keen to hop on board!

I had two professional make-up artists who arrived early to set up; I then told the girls to arrive two by two in 45 slots to have make-up done, with the birthday girl being last to arrive. What an absolute treat this was and the girls looked like supermodels once the artists had spun their magic! While girls were having make-up done, others could freely help themselves to bubbles from the champagne wall. A MEGA exciting aspect of the evening was a company, Kinda Different SA, who issued us with a stash of their incredible dissolvable glitter bombs (You're the bomb!) made of cotton candy, which dissolve in the champagne, and come in various amazing flavours (Apple-sparkling Emerald green, Banana-shimmering Blue, Cranberry sparkling Red, Litchi Shimmering Silver etc - 36 different flavours) and each turning a different colour upon dissolving and leaving the champagne glittery and sparkly!! Like have you EVER?! What a winner for parties, weddings and gender reveals! We also started snacking on pre-dinner donuts from the donut wall! (You donut know how much I love you!)

Once the girls were looking glam, we moved across to the eating area, where I had set a low-lying table and placed fluffy scatter cushions around for the girls to sit on. A gorgeous grazing table had been prepared by caterers that spanned the length of the table. Next to each girl's place setting was a pair of earrings, handmade according to their favourite colour/s and personality, aswell as beautiful necklaces with their names stamped on, and placed in beautiful hessian bags which were specifically printed with "Be Mine, XOXO". While grazing on dinner, there was so much side-splitting laugher and funny stories aswell as lots of posing for photos on a photo booth area with a chaise lounge and paper fan backdrop, with giant heart sunglasses as props and posters like: "You're like, really, really pretty" and "You're the Monica to my Rachel". A gin bar and garnishes had also been set up on a beautiful candy cart with beautiful confetti style gin glasses. Our birthday girl is in love with anything glittery, sparkly, and of course, champagne! While seated for dinner, we also brought out the main birthday cake topped with sparklers and laser- cut "Hey Girl" and wished our friend well! She loves being the centre of attention so lapped up all the LOVE!

Once our hunger had been satisfied, we moved into a different room where paint canvasses, palettes and paint had been set up for each girl. Two exquisite floral designs has been created by a florist, and with music playing, bubbly being sipped, laughter abounding, the girls got to work on their paintings! This activity was SUCH a winner and each girl did incredibly well (bar one who became the laughing stock of the evening!)

After this, we realised we were running short on time with the covid curfew in place! Each girl grabbed a goodie bag (tied with a helium red heart balloon) and started filling it with a plethora of spoils:

Nail polishes: I love that you're my friend!
Lip Balms: You're the balm (bomb)!
Laser cut gold 3D diamond boxes filled with sweeties: Shine bright like a diamond.
Bottles of Rose' wine (Be Wine) and stunning vases of flowers prepared by the florist, for each girl (Will you accept this Rose?)
3D crafted pizza boxes filled with marshmallows: You have a pizza my heart.
Tomato seeds: I love you from my head to-ma-toes.
Fake little succulent hearts in pots: I'm a succa for love.
Heart sunglasses: I only have eyes for you.
Pop rocks: You rock my world!
Stunning scented candles provided by Cape Island : You light up my life.
Candy-pink pots of chewing gum: I chews you!
Rose hand creams : Hands down, you're the best!
Heart printed coffee mugs filled with heart chocolates and sachets of cafe' latte': I love you a latte'.
Little tins of KISS ME mints.

The stunning backdrop to this setup was a beautiful jumbo poster I had designed and framed for the birthday girl saying "She's bright like glitter and sparkly like champagne!", which she got to keep and take home.

Lastly, there was a mad dash for the dessert table adorned with all sorts of yumminess:
Chocolate cake
Carrot cupcakes topped with pink glitter hearts
Macarons
Champagne bottle and heart hand-painted butter biscuits
Red velvet heart mini cakes
Cakesicles
Popcorn
Red and pink Lindt balls
Valentine's mallows
Red "love potion" drink
Mini cutie pie choccies

After a brief present-opening, the girls left with arms full, hearts and love-tanks brimming over, and ribs still aching from all the laughter! Truly a night none of us will forget! We are still talking and laughing and reminiscing about it!
