George and Wendy's Sophisticated Wedding Soiree
ByParty Recap
Wendy and George wanted, above all, to host a casual yet elegant wedding, which they achieved beautifully at a historic mansion on a nature preserve in suburban Maryland. “We got married outside in the grove 100 yards from the house,” Wendy says. “Everyone loved the laid-back atmosphere and marveled at how we managed to pull off such a classy wedding that didn’t feel the least bit stuffy.”
George and his groomsmen wore black suits with ascots, while Wendy’s bridesmaids donned black cocktail-length dresses. The couple decorated glass flower vases with crystal beads and white LED lights, and the florist supplied yellow roses – a meaningful touch since George gave Wendy a dozen yellow roses the day he proposed. Wendy had several favorite details, including dancing, the “fantastic food,” cutting the cake, and most of all, “the love-filled atmosphere.” For couples planning their weddings, she recommends doing a lot of research to pick good vendors and keeping the guest list small.
“If I had to do it all over again, I would not change one single thing,” Wendy says.
