Gingerbread House Decorating Party
ByParty Recap
Our Gingerbread House Decorating Party has become a yearly tradition that makes for a fun afternoon filled with Christmas music, laughter and sweet treats.
A friend and I had assembled the gingerbread houses a couple days before the party so the kids could focus on what they love most: decorating!
Used Kraft paper and gift wrap as tablecloths which didn't only look pretty, but made cleanup a breeze. Put the various candies into little cupcake liners and the royal icing into squeeze bottles and voila, the kids were ready to get creative!
I collaborated on this party with Farren of Pretty Peachtree who is so very talented. Had found some gift wrap in light blue, white and red in the cutest pattern and thought it would go really nicely with the brown gingerbread houses. Farren designed the most beautiful labels for the milk bottles. The personalization added another special touch to them. I also used the labels to wrap around the boards the gingerbread houses were sitting on, so they doubled as place cards. Since I knew there would be lots of candy left, I used the labels to prepare little treat bags that the kids put some of their favourite candies in before they went home.
I made a couple banners out of the gingerbread men Farren designed and put one above the fireplace and the other above the dessert table.
Since the kids like to sample the candies they work with and I didn't want to add too much more sugar to their diet, I kept the dessert table pretty simple with some gingerbread cookies and milk.
This Gingerbread House Decorating Party was definitely one of the best parties of the year and once again made for amazing memories.
