Party Recap

Now that fall has officially arrived, it is time to indulge in a favorite American pastime, Outdoor Movie Night. Remember the drive-in movie theatres? The fact we don't have one near us, here in Dallas, got our creative juices flowing and we recreated one in our backyard. This is a fun and inexpensive way to gather your girlfriends and enjoy a flick and the cooler evenings together.
We are going to show you just how easy and fun it is to host your own Outdoor Movie Night.
For your movie screen {if you don't have an actual one} you will need a plain white flat sheet. We used a queen size and attached it to our fence with clothes pins and heavy twine.

Keeping it simple, but true to your theme, before guests arrive, grab some blankets and pillows, baskets and crates and lay them out around the "movie viewing" area. So as the evening gets chilly, your guests can grab a blanket and cuddle up along with some fun oversized pillows to lie on.

Gather fun props, like movie reels and old cameras to bring the theme together. You can rent these items or ask your friends if they have some you can borrow.

Having snacks for your guests is a must to have a successful Girl's Outdoor Movie Night. Keeping the food simple and the presentation fancy, a simple popcorn bar with homemade flavored salty options and sugar toppings is perfect. Your guests will appreciate the sweet along with the salty.

Popcorn in a bowl is boring. These mini brown bags are super cute and the best part is you can make your own with our free printable download.
Dressing up store bought cupcakes with blackberries and fresh mint leaves is an easy to way to make them look couture and almost too delectable to eat. ALMOST! Don't forget to place them on a fancy cake plate or serving tray.
As an additional treat for our guests, Katherine of Creating Awesomenessity, created the fun and super delicious cookies to match our theme and invitation!
We broke out our wooden trays to hold sandwiches and beverages on so our guests had their own place for their food and drink.
To help with preparation, we purchased simple sub sandwiches and dressed them up using wax paper and twine.
A girl's night is the perfect time to make a signature cocktail! How about Lavender Lemonade? A little too chilly outside for a cold beverage, why not warm up with a Spiced Mocha Hot Cocoa? Or make both so your guests have a choice.
The Lavender Lemonade is cold and refreshing, while the Spiced Mocha Hot Cocoa is toasty and smooth.
The theatre is now open! Found these large chipboard letters and painted them gold to match our theme. Perfect how they sit behind our popcorn bar.
We love how the popcorn bags turned out! Don't forget to download your free printable, you can find it here.
Always have extra plates or bowls on hand in case your guests prefer to use them in lieu of a tray.
It's a rule; you mustn't have a party without favors {at least that is my rule}. This is my favorite part of any party. Girls night favors can be a combination of lip gloss, nail polishes, and sweet treats or in this case a mini tin of specialty candy to keep with the movie theme.
Hope you enjoyed this inspiration and you decide to host your own Outdoor Movie Night!
