Party Recap

Football season just started back up, but in my house, we are already thinking about Super Bowl Sunday. It’s not often you can find something kids and parents both agree on, but we love watching football on TV together as a family. More often than not, we’re hosting some friends or extended family members for the game, too. So I thought I’d share some fun football party ideas we used at our Super Bowl party last year.
You gotta have some football decorations to get everyone in the team spirit. I found a football pennant banner and “Go Team!” banner on Walmart.com. I also nabbed a really cute football garland with football shaped cutouts on it, but instead of hanging it in the air, I draped it on top of a football field table cover. For the finishing touch on the football party decorations, I bought a football shaped pinata and popped it right in the center of the table. It looked awesome as a football table centerpiece. During the Super Bowl halftime show, we let the kids break the pinata open. I put candy and some cheap football party favors inside - they really loved it!
Let’s be honest, it wouldn’t be a football watching party without some killer party snacks. I put out a big platter of soft pretzels with cheese dip, nachos, buffalo wings, and because I have a major sweet tooth, cupcakes AND chocolate chip cookies. Walmart had these really cute football party toothpicks that I used as cupcake toppers, but you could probably use to decorate any yummy treats. I also picked up all kinds of football paper plates, paper napkins, and cups to make the party foods feel even more festive (and UM – HELLO disposable tableware means easy cleanup!). I used brown plastic silverware to match the color of a good ol’ pigskin. Word of advice: pick up MORE party supplies than you think you’ll need because the Super Bowl is a LONG GAME. People were eating and drinking for like four hours. They’d think they were done, then get up and get another helping 20 minutes later. So yeah, you go through a lot of paperware – party plates and cups, especially!
You don’t have to wait until the big game to celebrate your love of football. All this stuff was so quick and easy to put together. I found such a wide selection of budget-friendly NFL football themed party supplies at Walmart, you could do it for any football game. Or grab a few extra football party decorations and football party accessories and you could throw a fun bash for your child’s end-of-season football team party or football awards banquet.
