Party Recap

My daughter Gracie was really into animals at the time of her 2nd birthday so we thought a Old Mc Donald Barnyard theme was the perfect idea, especially when I found out I could get Pony's and a petting farm delivered to my home!

We rented 8 bales Hay from feeding store that set the mood for set up stations for getting in farm gear and a place for thank you gifts and worked great for extra seating. We purchased 1-2 bales and spread the hay all on the floors of the backyard- a great fix for the grass that was not looking so great that time of year. We went to a garden nursery and got 4 tall bunches of corn husks to decorate outside and 12 punpkins since her birthday is in October. It was a fun fall birthday theme and created that farm feel.

My husband did a great job on the farm signs! We used fence wood that was in a damaged discount bin at Home Depot and he took white trim paint we had on hand to make the sayings used a saw to cut and nail them together. Our signs we "The Healy Farm" at the entrance into the party "Git Yer Gear" wear the hats and bandanas were and "Y'all come back again" at the thank you gift station as they were leaving.

We also took white garden trim found at Home depot that looks like white farm fencing and made feet for it so it would stand and added those to the cake table for decor.

I ordered blue and red kid cowboy hats from Party City and red, white, and blue bandanas from Amazon ( double sided print on both sides in 1000% cotton) be sure when ordering you look at your delivery dates especially coming from China. Kids could wear them and I used them as well for napkin rolls and also cut them into triangles and glued them to twine to use the garland to trim the outside of the house and gazebo.

I believe every great party has fun entertainment. So we had a bouncy house, 2 ponies, and a petting farm. The kids LOVED it and so did the parents. For sure one our best parties! We live at a deadens so it was easy to block off and create a loop for the pony rides.

I bought red and white gingham table cloths off Amazon and decorated the tables with the bandanas with accents of Sunflowers in mason jars and tied the jars with bows of red and white gingham ribbon.

I used Joanne Hudson bamboo plates and bamboo utensils since the event was casual. We served "Old Mac Donald Mac & Cheese" which I served in red and white checkered cupcake papers after baking in muffin tins, Cow Patties (no bake chocolate cookies), Sliders, Pigs In A Blanket, Fresh Farm Eggs (deviled eggs), Vegetable & Fruit Stand of berry baskets of carrots, celery, tomatoes, watermelon, strawberries and blueberries, Corn (which was bags of popcorn wrapped in green and yellow tissue paper to look like ears of corn) Haystacks (Rice Krispie treats cut into rectangles and tied to look like bales of hay), Cupcakes with faces of barnyard animals chicks, cows & pigs and her birthday cake with a red barn on it. All kid friendly foods and easy to prep and serve.

We asked guest to wear Barnyard attire. Both my husband and I wore blue gingham shirts and jeans with cowboy boots and I found my daughters cowgirl dress on Esty and her cowboy boots at Kohls.

For the desert table I have an ugly garden window I hate so I took an old quilt from my mom's vacation home and tied it to the gazebo as a back drop to the desert table. Really happy with that look.

The beverage table we called "The Watering hole" and served County lemonade and Moo-Juice for the kids and Moonshine for the adults.

On the tables I had printed out Farm animals coloring prints free online and had mason jars of crayons at each table as a sitting activity.

On Amazon I found some inexpensive stuffed farm animals of cows, sheep, and horses and I made tags that bowed to their necks with red gingham ribbon that said "Thank Ewe For Coming".

This is a fantastic birthday theme and I am not sure how I can top this one. I really loved this one and so did every one!
