Party Recap

My son Grayson turned two, and we celebrated with Bikes and Breakfast! Bikes are one of his current obsessions, so I felt this party theme was appropriate. Here in Phoenix, it can be quite warm still in September, and so we decided to supply breakfast this year to try and keep the festivities cool.

The invites created by One Swell Studio were perfect for a vintage inspired bike party. I love the fresh color combination of aqua and orange.

Guests arrived and were welcomed by a bike with balloons and welcome bunting. We took advantage of our wide driveway for a bike wash created from PVC pipe. To keep kids out of the street, we assembled orange construction fencing which I decorated with fringe garland.

Out back, we had several additional activities to keep kids entertained. There was a “bike shop” where kids could tinker around with tools and old bike parts. There was a felt board bike puzzle activity, as well a coloring station with bike coloring sheets.

In addition, the food was outside. Bagels, donuts, fruit, yogurt parfaits, and mini quiches were a big hit. Coffee, juice, water, as well as a mimosa and bloody mary bar was provided. I created a backdrop with the quote, “biking is always a good idea” with fringe garland, and old bike rims painted white were used for additional décor.

Inside I painted bike rims to display photos of Grayson thought the year for guests to enjoy. And I also created a favor desk for guests to take a cupcake and a bike bell on their way out the door. I love the Lilly Paul Designs fabric garland on the desk, as well as the custom tricycle art from Letter Craft.

I think the best complement when throwing a party is guests not wanting to leave because they are having too much fun. . . . and this is exactly what happened. The kids all had a great time, and we could not have asked for a more perfect day to celebrate the big T-W-O!
