Harry Potter Inspired Birthday

Planning events is my passion and planning this birthday celebration was so much fun even though I hardly knew anything about Harry Potter before taking this on. I had three weeks to plan and no idea where to start! Watching all the movies would be impossible with having school full time and having 3 kiddos!. Thank God for the internet though and my son who is a Harry Potter super fan! You can say I'm an expert in all Harry Potter things now. : ) For this birthday celebration kids received an invitation from Hogwarts, inspired by Harry Potters acceptance letter! When the kids arrived they were greated by the sorting hat and given their name tags which told them which house they belong to and where to sit. We had all four houses represented by a table with the designated house colors and flag. Each table was adorned with potion bottles and little trinkets inspired by the movie. For party favors, the kids were able to pick out their own wands along with a spell book to help them remember and practice those tricky spells! Along with the very awesome cake, the dessert table included the very famous "every flavor" jelly beans, chocolate frogs, mandrakes, butter beer, and golden snitches. The background represented the great hall including those floating candles and even Hedwig made an appearance on our table! Next to the dessert table we had several proclamations inspired by the movie, we made an exeption though and did not follow the rules! Who wants to be quiet at a party? The birthday boy along with all the kiddos had a great time discovering everything that was inspired by the movie. I am so glad everyone loved it and that this party was a success!
