My youngest nephew has always been one to create the most amazing themes for his birthday and this year was no exception with his 5th birthday party going down in history as a Batman Disco Birthday Party theme. I love his unique idea as it calls for out of the box thinking and the chance to let my creative juice flow freely.
The base of the Batman Disco dessert table concept came from the invitation that I created. As I do not work with licensed characters I custom drew a cartoon version of my nephew dressed as a disco dancing boy in a bat costume with mirror ball belt and cape. From there I used the Black/Silver/Red/Yellow/Blue colours as the main links to tie everything together.
The Batman Disco cake was created by Baked by Belinda who was given a rough sketch of the cake and the image I created that was used on the invitation and she created this fantastic work of art. I was beyond excited to see that she created a 3D fondant version of the Disco Batman character and her Mirror ball is perfection.
The next main part of the dessert table is the backdrop. I wanted this to fun, quirky and unique. This was achieved by creating these garlands each with a touch of the theme and colour. I had cut out black bats, stuck 5cm honeycomb balls, cut out the words DISCO and DANCE out of silver metallic card, used tiny mirror balls and strung these together on a silver cord.
The mini cupcakes were given a theme appropriate name of ‘Energy Bites’ which were created by Frostalicious Cupcake Creations. They were a vanilla base with silver liners, Red, Blue & Yellow Vanilla Buttercream Frosting sprinkled with sugar bats. To give these the final touch I created these POW!, BAM! and 5 cupcake picks to give them that superhero spark.
Another main feature of the Batman Disco dessert table was the sparkle batman cakepops aka SUPER POPS & the mirrorball batman cookies aka MIRROR BITES created by the super talented Emily from Sweet Pops by Emily. As always her work is perfection. The Strawberry cheesecake Sparkle batman cakepops came complete with paper cape & the cookies had the perfect amount of shimmer to them.
Other features on the Batman Disco dessert table were the DISCO ROCKS aka white chocolate covered popcorn with silver sugar ball sprinkles. My dad, who is know for his pastry skills created these for the table. I provided him with the silver cupcake liners which were used as the cups to hold this delicious thing together. BAT BEANS were glass jars filled with coloured chocolate beans and finished off with the number 5 tag on the lid. And every child attending went home with the little black case filled with Batman delights and finished off with a thank you tag featuring the character I created.
Other features put together was the silver curtain photo backdrop complete with POW! BAM! 5 and bat photo props. STOP! Taynelle Party Balloon Designs supplied the balloons for this day and created this amazing balloon bat. We had a no entry sign for the staircase and mirrorball accents throughout.
This Batman Disco Birthday Party theme is definitely one of my favorite themes Ive had the opportunity to work on. With my sister Josefa, help from our wonderful parents and lots of love this party was a huge success.
