Party Recap

Right after his 4th birthday party last year my son told me he wanted a Scooby Doo party. As a mom who isn't a huge fan of commercial characters as party inspiration I was hoping he would forget about it. Well he didn't...so we started planning. Most of the ideas were his, I just had to figure out how to make them a reality for him!

Idea

Party Highlights

  • Best Dressed

Our boys wore matching, personalized shirts I found on ebay!

  • Desserts

A mystery machine cake and Spooky Eyes!

  • Activities / Games

There was a Mystery to Solve, Scooby Doo Collars to make and a squirt gun fight to be had!

  • Party Favors

A Mystery Machine treat bag filled with a Scooby Doo book, ball, stickers and silly bandz. A small squirt gun, magnifying glass, and a glow stick. Plus treat and candy from the Pinata!

  • Best Moment

The Birthday Boy seeing his mystery machine cake and his new bike. His face was priceless.

  • What People Ate

Scooby Snacks, Bone Shaped sandwiches and rice krispie treats, Popcorn Bar, and much more!

I found free printables online for the mustache and lips and printed those out and then I used my limited computer skills and paint on my computer to enlarge photos of each Scooby Doo character and printed them and cut out these accesories. I then hot glued them to a stick!

How did you enlarge the photos to create the props? I want to do something similar for a smurf party but I am having trouble with the enlarging (my computer skills are very limited too!).

I have tried to enlarge some pictures that I found online for this same idea, but can't figure it out. Did you save the files by chance and are you willing to share? My kids are so excited about a Scooby party, and I'm hoping it turns out great!

Sorry everyone, my email changed and I never got these questions. I literally copy and pasted a photo of scooby doo in to Paint on my computer. Then I enlarged it to a size that might work. It got a little pixelated, but I figured it would still work. Then I used the eraser to erase all of the part of Scooby I didn't want to use. I then printed it and cut it out.

I found them in a paper products book on amazon.com. I think they were technically from hallmark or hallmark.com.

I LOVE the ideas. Do you happen to still have the lanterns? If so, would you consider selling them? Oriental trading company won't have them until the fall and I need them for June. If you are interested contact me at [email protected]
