Party Recap

This was a shower that I helped design the decorations and help to style. The recipients friends and family made the treats and foods. Guests visited while enjoying treats and snacks from the sweets/ food table.
Many of the paper decoration items were designed and made by myself - Shawna Fisher of Water Walker Events - Design - Planning. However, we did use several cute options from orientaltrading.com. The safari plates, cups, straws, napkins and even the vinyl tropical leaf decorations (large and small) were all from oriental trading company. They were the perfect compliment to all of our decorations and the setup of the party. We placed the large leaves under many of the serving platters. We also placed some of the small tropical leaves under the trail mix containers on the sweets table. The small leaves were also used on our smaller backdrop as a top liner accent. I highly recommend these leaves for any jungle, safari, or tropical party as they are high quality and very beautiful!!
The outer backdrop was made from two different colors of green tablecloths cut to look like vines. We framed the vines around our inside leaning backdrop that was covered in a burlap sack and strung with vines that we clip on the baby's name banner that was made out of jungle animal letter characters.
We also strung tablecloth vines along the front of the food table to give the whole table a really green lush appearance. We added some crates topped with some mini palms.

Party Highlights

  • What People Ate

The party food and snacks were made by the hostesses - friends and family of the baby shower recipient. They provided nibbles for a mini trail mix bar (centered on the food table), had a grape bowl that they called "snake eggs", strawberry and banana "snake" skewers, little Debbie snack cakes in "zebra" cake style, tortilla pinwheel "snails", "Butterfly" bowtie pasta salad, "Snakes" - hot dog biscuit wraps, popcorn, and candy in bowls for party favors boxes to fill and take home, red velvet cupcakes topped with our adorable mini paper fun jungle animal face toppers and wrapped in our cute grass wraps, and cake that was made by a family friend of the shower recipient.

  • What People Drank

We had "swamp water" bottles that were wrapped in our cute matching themed bottle wraps and tied with jungle vines with leaves. They also served "Lagoon" punch.

  • Party Favors

I used my banana box designs and made banana boxes that I filled with banana taffy. I then tied them each with their own green twine and grabbed them and tied them by bunches (in varying heights) from the outer backdrop - within the vines - to give the appearance of hanging banana bunches. Then as the guests were leaving, we cut them down and passed them out to each guest. The guests were also provided with our mini theme matching favor boxes to fill with trail mix and candy - also to take home.

  • Activities / Games

The hostesses played the "guess the mommy's belly measurement" with twine game. They also had a bottle filled with tootsie rolls and did the guess how many tootsie rolls were in the bottle game.
