Party Recap

My two year old son loves anything on the move so Planes, Trains &
Automobiles was the perfect theme. We are also decorating his bedroom in this theme so I knew the decorations would be put to good use beyond just the party!

Idea

Party Highlights

  • Desserts

My mom made an awesome Planes, Trains and Automobiles cake which was the feature of the dessert table along with the Up in the Clouds Jello, Teddy Graham Cars and Traffic Light brownies.

  • Party Favors

I wanted favors to go with all three, planes, trains and automobiles so each kid received an "in flight snack" of pretzels, a train whistle and a wooden car and markers. I made traffic light favor bags to put all their treats in.

  • Activities / Games

Most of the activities were outside so we spray painted a race track on the lawn for the kiddie cars, played traffic light bean bags and had a foam airplane toss. We also had a wooden car cut out that we used as our "photo booth" for all of the guest. I included a copy of their photo in their thank you note and made a collage of all of them for my sons room.

  • What People Ate

Lots of fun themed food for this one. "Submarine" sandwiches, "Wheelie" good pasta, Veggie Train and of course hamburgers and hotdogs with stop light condiments!

  • What People Drank

We used camping water dispensers to look like gas cans (the idea of using an actual gas can seemed confusing for kids). And the construction cone cups were a hit!

Randi S - I found the wooden cars and marker sets at orientaltrading.com, i bagged them and added the tag! Cindy M - I created all of the printables. I purchased a transportation graphics package on etsy (to get all of the vehicles themselves) and then designed the rest! Glad you like it, thanks Cindy! :)

Love all the decorations!! What does the sign say on the entry way table? And what is the name of the book on the table?

Hi April! Below is the text for the sign. The book was Richard Scarry's Hop Aboard! Here We Go! Stop here you see and write a special message to me! A birthday wish or just say hi, to your favorite TWO year old guy. On the front, the back, or any page, It’s something I’ll treasure to remember this age!

Hi, Where did you find the stuff using to decorate fire mantle?

  • megbeno

    megbeno wrote:

Hi Shreya! Here's the rundown of the mantle decor: Truck and Plane are Green Toys (Amazon) Route 66 and Pontiac Metal Signs (Hobby Lobby) I also bought the red frame and the wooden K there. I painted the K and added the wooded vehicles with hot glue. The color blocked framed picture as well as the speed limit sign I made. The banner I made from the same transportation clip art I referenced above. Hope that helps!
