Party Recap

Every year, well since 2009, my favorite party to plan each year has been my daughter, Ally’s birthday party. We have done the “Allygator” Swamp, Ally in Wonderland, The Owl and the Pussycat and an Up! themed party. This year, my excitement was doubled because I got to include our 2nd daughter in the fun. Our girls our 3 years and 11 months apart so we decided to have a combined party this year, and Ally helped me with the theme. She has been very interested the Ladybug Girl series of books ever since she read them at school, therefore she suggested this year’s party theme be “Ladybug Girl and Bumblebee Baby”. I thought it was a great idea.

I began to collect ideas month’s in advance and decided to focus on the colors red, black, yellow and white and to incorporate lots of fun patterns such as stripes, polka dots, chevron, damask, etc. My next step was to create a logo for the event. I incorporated clip art I purchased from Digital Bake Shop on Etsy. I used this logo on the invitations, labels, a banner, facebook event and more.

For the dessert table, I started with purchasing fabrics and sewed them together to create a backdrop for the table. I then used the scraps to make a garland for the front of the table. I hung paper lanterns from the ceiling in front of the backdrop for added interest. I then designed a custom banner and attached it to the fabric backdrop. Once the desserts were added to the table, it was completed with a decorated “1″ and “5″ and other themed items.
Decor

We seated guests outside under a tent and decorated the tables as bees and ladybugs. The bee tables featured black table coverings with yellow ribbon stripes and yellow and black centerpieces. The ladybug tables featured red table coverings with black and white damask polka dots and red and black centerpieces. The front door showcased a custom wreath by Wreaths and Things by Betsy.

The welcome area featured a guest book that the sisters use every year, photo albums, a sign promoting a hashtag to be used on social media and the inspiration book for the party.
