Party Recap

My mom and Granny hosted this adorable baby shower at my Granny’s church fellowship hall. Little did we know how perfect this theme would be, as my son is a true book worm! We used classic white table cloths as so many of the books had so much color. We also got a couple yards of fabric from Walmart in “Cat in the Hat” and “Winnie the Pooh” themes. They served as perfect table runners that my in-laws later turned into blankets for the grandchildren! We also found a lot of cute book quote signs that ended up being in my son’s “Oh the Places You’ll Go Nursery.” I love practical decor that can be used for more than just the party (that way it’s more worth the price of some things, and you end up saving money if you can really use them elsewhere!). All the party food was centered around books, as well. We played of titles to create an array of finger foods. We aren’t really “party game” people, so we just had a simple guessing station to win Hershey kisses and random plates stamped that gave the lucky guests a prize (mini loofa, soap, and hand sanitizer from bath and body works with a “from our shower to yours” card). Table centerpieces and decoration consisted of old family children’s books and the food and entrance tables had new books to add to Luke’s library! My mom also included a request on the invite to bring a book instead of a card. She had an adorable crate to hold the books when guests arrived, and it was a really cute way to start a baby book collection (and a much better $5 investment than a card!).
