Party Recap

We had my daughter's 5th birthday party at our house and the theme was Frozen. The girls dressed up as their favorite princess and the boys dressed up as their favorite disney character. We had rapunzel, Snow White, Elsa and Anna, Buz Lightyear, power rangers, and transformers. Once the kids arrived, they headed straight for the bouncy castle!! But they found time to eat, play games, and do a craft. We had a piñata, played "pin the nose on Olaf", made a paper bag snowman, bounced, cake and ice cream and opened presents! It was a three hour party and it flew by!! The adults loved the chilli and buffalo chicken dip and the kids LOVED the elaborate food table. The cake was professionally made and was the centerpiece of the fancy table. For the backdrop, we used white wire net lighting, doorway streamers from Walmart, and then hung snowflake tulle and a swag curtain all bought from Joann Fabrics. Some decorations came from etsy.com, party city.com, Pat Catans, ebay, Amazon, and hobby lobby. We had a backyard party tent set up near the bounce house with three tables and chairs for the kids and adults to eat at or to grab some shade and cool down from jumping. We had balloons everywhere including a large Olaf balloon near the front door to greet the guests. It was a party fit for a princess..

Party Highlights

  • What People Ate

We had "kids food" and "adult food". I ordered a platter of sandwiches from Subway which was a huge hit with the kids. We had cheese and crackers, carrots and ranch, pretzel sticks, strawberries dipped in white chocolate, marshmallows dipped in blue chocolate rolled in blue sugar crystals, chips, Flipz (white chocolate pretzels), blue jello jugglers. For decoration, I bought plastic candy dishes and fancy containers and put pearl blue sixlets in one, pearly white and blue gum balls in another, and Hershey kisses wrapped in blue and silver foil in the other. It was mostly just to add effect to the theme, but at the end of the party the kids filled their goody bags up with them as an extra treat. The "adult food" was in a separate area. They were welcome to anything, but we also offered them "chilli" with cheese, onions and crackers, buffalo chicken dip and pinwheel hors d'oeuvres.

  • What People Drank

For the kids, I bought quilted jelly mason jars and painted the bottoms white and glazed it with shimmering paint glitter. Then my husband drilled a hole in the lid and added a straw. I made blue punch which was one large blue Hawaiian punch and 1 1/2-2 liters of sprite. The kids loved it especially with the clear glass and white painted bottom. We called it "snow cap punch". The adults had an array of soda to choose from along with water, tea, and coffee.

  • Desserts

We found an awesome bakery in the Akron, Ohio area called "A Dream Crumb True" and she made a beautiful 3 tier fondant cake fit for a princess!!

  • Party Favors

I made Olaf waterless snow globes, the kept their snow cap punch mug, piñata candy, and prize bags from the game.

  • Activities / Games

We had a piñata filled with candy and prizes, we played "pin the nose Olaf", and we also had a craft table labeled "do you want to build a snowman?!" They made white paper bag Olaf's which was so much fun! We also rented a very large, professional disney princess bounce house. That was the best money we ever spent on a birthday party. The kids had a ball!!!!
