Party Recap
My daughter, Sydney, was determined to have a Mermaid Birthday Party! She was adamant, though, that it wasn't going to be a Little Mermaid party; she wanted a more generic, pretty party and she came up with the theme colors of lavendar and aqua. Using the colors as the inspiration, we did it up right and had a WONDERFUL time with all of her friends.
Party Highlights
-
Best Moment
Everyone seemed to love all the themed activities and the cake and cookies were a big hit!
-
Most Touching Moment
Sydney LOVES her friends and she just had a sweet time with them!
-
Desserts
I made the Under the Sea cake by coloring my favorite white cake batter different shades of blue, then swirled together in pans. Frosted with buttercream frosting that was colored different blues; after frosting it kind of randomly, I took food coloring and squirted drops on top of the cake and swirled it into the frosting; topped the cake off with shell-shaped candy molds I made with white chocolate. Everyone--especially Sydney--loved it!
-
Party Favors
Sydney decorated brown paper sacks by painting mermaid designs on them in lavendar and aqua; filled them with favious party favors (bubbles, candy, sea-themed toys)
-
Activities / Games
We had a Paint a Seashell station; seawood limbo (added streamers to the limbo pole); search for treasure (sand filled with little trinkets); a Mermaid Race (painted mermaid tails on pillowcases); fishing station to fish for goodie bags; and a photo background area.
