Party Recap

Yo Ho Let's Go! Mia's Jake And The Neverland Pirates themed 5th Birthday Party. I wanted to incorporate the characters from Disney Jr's Jake And The Neverland Pirates into a Pirate themed party that both kids and adults would enjoy.

My daughter loves Izzy, I even made her the Izzy inspired tutu dress she's wearing in the photos. I designed all of the party printables ( invitations, table tents, signs, thank you cards etc...) based on these characters using a treasure map motif. I made a lot of the decorations and centerpieces utilizing supplies from the Dollar Tree and local craft stores (please see photos for more details). I purchased most of the decorations and party favors rather cheaply from Amazon.

We held the party in our backyard which is already amazing but I wanted to turn it into a Caribbean Island Paradise which I did by adding cheap fish nets and Pirate Bunting. We had made a Tiki Bar for last year's Olaf Summer Luau Party so we did it again but with Pirate accessories. We served Pirate Rum Punch and Mermaid Lagoon water from drink dispensers and had other libations as well. We spray painted a stryofoam cooler brown and decorated it with gold duct tape to make a Team Treasure Chest for the kids drinks.

We already owned a pop up gazebo which made the perfect Pirate Crew Hideout where we set up the party table. I bought Jake themed plastic table covers, paper plates, and napkins. I decorated the table with my handmade centerpieces, telescopes and hooks and randomly scattered necklaces, coins, and gems all around. Each puny Pirate had a treasure chest containing Pirate Booty, an eye patch and Jake tattoos and given a Pirate Captain hat and treasure map. They could pick up a cardboard Jake sword and Izzy pixie dust pouch necklace as well.

I made a direction sign for Pirate Island, Mermaid Lagoon, Crocodile Creek and Skull Rock with corresponding signs in the yard. The kids were given treasure maps indicating those places to find clues to the buried treasure. At each location was a game or activity such as Pirate Hook's Ring Toss and Walk the Plank with a ride on the Jolly Roger to Skull Rock and finally to find the buried treasure. Which was a sand box filled with Pirate Loot! The Pirate loot included gold doubloons, jewels, bead necklaces, and Ring Pops (the kids favorite).

The galley was loaded with grub like Pirate Dogs, Parrot Legs, Seaweed Salad, Treasure Platter, Fruit Swords and Fish & Chips. The table was set with a Caribbean blue plastic table cover (Party City) covered with a cheap fish net.

A giant Pirate Ship sailed in with Gold Doubloon cupcakes! Cupcakes were frosted Caribbean blue with crushed gram cracker sand and topped with a shiny gold coin.

After their fill of Pirate grub, grog, games and fun all of our little Pirates filled their treasure chests with treats from the buffet. We had Tic-Toc Crock gummy crocodiles, Gold Doubloon Oreos, Pixie Dust, and chocolate coins to take home.

And did I mention my husband and I dressed like Pirates too!
