Party Recap

I had researched for 2 months on the theme I wanted to use. Once I saw Ladybugs, I knew that was the party I wanted for Morgan. Since the party was in May and we have a heated pool, I included on the invitation to bring your suit and towel, so it turned into a pool party/bbq. The weather was amazing and the turnout incredible.

I researched colors and ideas on several sites. Got some great DIY ideas and started trying them out, to make sure they would look good and taste great.

I was so busy up to the morning of the party that I didn't even get to enjoy her actual birthday, which was the day before the party. BUT.....the party was a blast.

The most money was spent on the professional cake and the actual food - which was burgers and dogs, and of course, we bought way too much meat. I'm not kidding when I say 1 week after and eating a burger for lunch and dinner....we still have 3 patty's left. The cake was done by a professional baker that I was referred to by a friend. I showed her the picture of what I wanted and she gave me soooo much better.

Party Highlights

  • Desserts

Dessert table was awesome (ladybug fruit skewers, marshmallow, brownie and strawberry skewers - drizzled with chocolate syrup), marshmallow pops, ladybug pretzels, Mike and Ike red candy, Twizzlers and birthday cake

  • Party Favors

Ladybug pretzels and grass wrapped in clear paper with a Gingham bow and a handmade thank you tag. These were made for the kids only.

  • Activities / Games

We had people in the pool and we had a game of cornhole set up in backyard.

  • Best Moment

The cake. Morgan knows how to "brush hair" so when her hands were covered in red icing, I told her to "brush hair" and it was everywhere!

  • Funniest Moment

Morgan! She is a total ham and once she knows she has your attention, she is going to show off. She has one dance move, that is amazing and all you have to say is "Go Morgan, go Morgan" and she will get started. She was the life of the show.....

  • Best Dressed

Morgan! I bought her outfit from Amazon, it was a Red lace romper...

  • Budget

We didn't really have a budget....I did make everything myself, except for actual cake. The cake itself was $80.00 and we bought $80.00 in ground beed for the burgers. Other than that, I'm not sure what the end total was.

  • What People Ate

We had burgers and dogs, chips and salsa.

  • What People Drank

We had "little bug juice and water" coolers set up with Koolaid drinks and water inside. We had a soda table, a beer cooler and a drink dispenser of "Adult Bug Brew" which was Rum, Ginger Ale and Cran-Lemonade.
