Party Recap

Fire Truck/Firefighter was such a fun theme! I've seen a lot of birthday parties with this theme but not many baby showers! But it was easy to incorporate all the birthday ideas. Baby Hayden's Dad is a Firefighter and this was perfect! My bestie was the host and Natasha's sister!
We had Stop (gobstoppers) Drop (gumdrops) and Roll (toosie rolls). The cake was relatively simple to make, I used rice krispy treats to form the Fire Hat.
The sleeping baby was a good way to turn this into a cute baby shower cake. For the mini flame cupcakes I mixed red, orange, and yellow icing. I think they turned out good. I made small fondant fire hydrants with a cookie cutter to top the standard size cupcakes. I had seen Oreos used for the fire truck wheels but the host wanted peanut butter ritz. I was a little worried about getting them on the stick but I glued the sticks to the ritz before I put the peanut butter on then stuck them in the freezer for a few minutes and it worked perfectly. For the cake pops I just made red, orange and yellow with sprinkles. I made a few with flames and in the end wished I had made them all like that. They were much easier to make than I thought they would be and turned out really cute! For the rice krispy treats I just drizzled them with the three colors and they were a yummy addition. I dipped one end of small pretzel sticks in red candy coating to make pretzel matches. I haven't been decorating cookies very long my first batch was last Christmas. So the Fire Truck cookies were somewhat a challenge... The hardest part for me was being patient enough to wait for each layer to dry :/ but I was happy with the end result. We used red punch for our "fire truck fuel" such a cute idea! For the water pails we used blue sixlets. They also served chili which went really well with the theme!
For the decorations I used black plastic tablecloths to cover the table and for the background. I made the banners using images I printed from Google, cut letters out, and glued them. Using a program I have I made the badges with the number 31 which is the dads number. I also made some red and yellow tissue pom poms.
I really enjoyed making all the treats and the decorations! All in all I think it turned out really cute and the host was very happy with it! Catch My Party and Pinterest are such wonderful forums for so so many great ideas!!!!
