Party Recap

Every year my husband and I stay home and celebrate with our children and a few of their friends. We enjoy making these memories with them since we know these years are going to fast anyway. We usually make up a nice goodie table, and will usually play the "pop the hour" balloon game. The kids will all each write down an activity of their choosing and then we place those ideas on scraps of paper inside balloons that we hang. When each hour changes (counting down to midnight), we pop the balloon of that hour. Our activities will range from board games, to Wii games, to charades. At midnight we usually shoot of a few fireworks, and then we celebrate with a few more games and an ice cream sundae buffet (not pictured).
This year for the dinner portion we also set up a "make your own pizza" buffet. However, because we wanted to spend our time with each other and not the kitchen, we hit the easy button and bought pre-made Totinos mini pizzas and then just jazzed them all up with our own additional toppings.
After dinner, we let the kids snack on the goodies from the table until it was midnight when they would get their ice cream sundaes. The goodie table consisted of more than just a few sweets. Party Hats, Blowers, Welch's grape juice, and our toasting flutes all adorned our table as well. We also had Blue sugared brownie bits, blue gumballs, 2016 sugar cookies, and champagne flutes filled with non-alcoholic jello made with pineapple jello, sparkling Welch's grape juice, whipped topping, and gold sprinkles. These jello cups are always a favorite!
For the backdrop I simply hung a ruffled cloth (from Amazon), and then hung a simple silver chandelier. I used Gold, Silver, and bluish turquoise for our color scheme for our decorations this year. I used paper fan clocks and placed silver and blue embellished centerpieces on each side for accents. I halved silver checkered straws and topped them with some gold glittered paper flags. We purchased our champagne flutes (tall and short) all from the Dollar Tree. My youngest daughter and I embellished the smaller ones (that we used for the jello) with gold stars. We also embellished the tall ones by painted them gold halfway up and then sprinkling them with a fine pewter glitter. We also picked up some mini spoons for our jello at the Dollar Tree and then we embellished those with some bling stickers rolls (from Michaels).
We bought our party hats from Party City, along with a mini and large plates and napkins.
I created the toppers with clock printouts and a banner design and then backed them on the straws with some gold glitter cardstock.
I placed a few large ornamental balls in the matching colors to give a few more accent pieces to the table.
The fun part of this is that my children also enjoy having a pretty setup for the evening. I love getting to share my events with my family! To me, that is what celebrating the New (year) is all about!
