Party Recap

Olivia turning 4 was going to be a huge event! She loves Mermaids and anything to do with Under the sea stories. We planned her party for over a year with hints and help from many contributors on Pinterest. We had planned to have the party outside but due to the last minute shift in the weather we chose to move the party indoors. We started by lining the walls with our colorful blue and purple and green plastic table cloths. We curled ribbon and taped them to ceiling to give illusion of water and sea weed etc. We added hand made jelly fish to the ceiling as well as clear balloons to walls for bubble effect. Once we placed each item in the locations we wanted it was time to put out the food. We made chicken salad and placed them on croissants and added toothpicks with google eyes to make crabs. Deviled eggs that we dyed blue were a huge hit. Pasta salad and star fish shaped peanut butter jelly sandwiches for the kids. We had chips and goldfish and cotton candy flavored cheese balls that were blue. We had fruit that we stacked with a fish shaped toothpick. Our candy buffet was a huge success with the adults and kids. Each kid helped themselves and after the party we gave each child a bag to take home with them loaded with candy. We gave each child their very own gold fish and bowl. Each girl went home with her own mermaid tail. The young men were given felt shark hats to wear during party and to take home. Adult women wore crowns with sea shells and jewels and we even had Eric the Pirate show up! Games consisted of a chalk station outside once weather lifted and each kid got their very own sand bucket and shovel and dug in the small swimming pool for hidden treasures. Ariel the Mermaid showed up and read a special hand made Mermaid book to the kids and answered questions about Mermaids and the birthday girl got her hair combed with Ariel's special comb a fork!
