Party Recap
Last year, our sweet little S turned the big one year old! We celebrated by having a gnome-themed party outdoors at our local park. We are blessed to live in a mostly sunny climate. However, it had been raining off and on the past week. Thankfully, it was a beautiful 60-ish degree sunny day! Our family has always held gnomes close to our hearts. We have several little figurines we have named, & we have always referred to our S as our little gnomie! What theme could be more appropriate?!
We knew we'd be inviting a lot of little friends, so we sent out an Evite which said: "Please join us for a time of scrumptious woodland sweet treats, garden games, & silly gnome mischief as we celebrate S's 1st birthday! Hi-diddle-dee-dee! We can't wait to see ya! "
This was my first time creating my own printables for a party - since then, I have done some "tweaking" to the collection, opened up my own Etsy shop, and have made all graphics & backgrounds in this party kit my own. www.etsy.com/shop/ThePrintcessShop The colors were taken from the Travelocity gnome - a pretty blue & red color pallet. We decorated with tree stumps, rocks & moss, & even threw in a couple of lawn flamingos!! My hubby - "Mr. Knightly" - had chosen a PERFECT spot at the edge of the park where 3 tables formed a large triangle. He claimed the 3 tables which allowed us a huge secluded portion of space to work with.
Children arrived and picked out a gnome hat to wear (My sister & I found the dimensions online and just cut ours out of felt, attaching them with hot glue). Girls got to choose a flower to clip onto the hat, and the boys had beards to choose from... though none of them wore the beards! I ordered a special gnome hat for our guest of honor at the Etsy shop "Swirly Hats," & I'm SO glad I did! Check them out here: https://www.etsy.com/shop/swirlyhats
The day was filled with lots of fun activities: gnome bowling, "bounce the gnome(s)" parachute games, a gnome scavenger hunt & Bible verse scramble (for the big kids to stay involved) about searching for a treasure, and LOTS of garden-themed treats! We had gummy toadstools, mozzarella & grape tomato toadstools, "Owl Feed" (sunflower seeds), Gnomeo & Juliet hats with dip (red & blue tortilla chips), gnome-hat sandwiches, twigs (pretzels sticks) garden dirt w/worms (chocolate pudding/oreo mixture w/gummy worms), snail roll-ups (turkey/tortilla roll-ups), toadstool cupcakes, & my favorite - gnome sundaes. My sister & I dipped ice cream cones in melted red chocolate & served them in blue bowls with a scoop of vanilla ice cream & beards made of whipped cream! So stinkin' cute!
It was a wonderful day with wonderful friends & family. We are so blessed! Throwing parties like this brings me so much joy!
