Party Recap
The birthday boy has an encyclopedic knowledge of dinosaurs and very specifically requested a paleontology party, so we put together a backdrop of dinosaur fossils crates topped with some festive balloons. We scattered dinosaur fossils around the party table. I made dinosaur fossil cookies and an excavation site cake.

Activities / Games
Game 1: We played Carnivore and Herbivores (freeze tag) in which "it" was the Carnivore and the Herbivores were everyone else. Game 2: I printed off giant engineering prints of dinosaur fossils at Staples. Then, I cut them out and cut them in to pieces, I traced the pieces on a large piece of cardboard and then hid the dinosaur parts for the kids to "excavate" then they brought them back to the cardboard and put the "fossil" back together. Game 3: I gave them each cookie dough and a small dinosaur and they made their own fossils in the cookies (we didn't eat them). Game 4: I made Moon Sand from flour and baby oil and they excavated plastic animal toys from the "Moon Sand" in a large plastic container.
