Party Recap
Anna Claire's favorite book is "Pete the Cat: I Love My White Shoes". We did a Pete the Cat I Love My White Shoes theme for her 2nd bday party and since the author of the book lived in Georgia - we were able to book him for the party!!! Mr. Eric came and sang songs, danced and read Pete the Cat to all of Anna Claire's friends.
If you've never read the book, watch the video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nUubMSfIs-U&feature=feedwll&list=WL
Party Highlights
-
Best Dressed
Well Anna Claire of course!! We dressed her in blue like Pete with white shoes (but hers were sparkly!)
-
Activities / Games
Mr. Eric sang songs and read his Pete the Cat book.
-
Budget
Less than $300 for food and decorations. I used Amazon credit to purchase 7 Pete the Cat books so those were FREE. We aren't counting Mr. Eric's fee in there..... but he was totally worth it.
-
Best Moment
When Mr. Eric, author of "Pete the Cat I Love My White Shoes" came (we kept it a surprise!!)
-
Most Touching Moment
Mr. Eric brought Anna Claire his brand new book "Rocking in My School Shoes" 3 days before it was released!!! We felt special!

Hey Pam! Our preschool is using Pete the Cat as our theme for literary month and I'd love to remake your plywood pete the cat. Could you possibly share your dimensions? Thanks, Christina

We really want to do a Pete the Cat Birthday Party for my daughter who is turning 2 in July. Did you make everything yourself or is there somewhere to purchase all of the banners and cupcake toppers?

Hey all! Sorry I'm just now seeing these comments. I made everything by hand - at the time (4 years ago) Pete the Cat was a very new book so it wasn't as commercialized which meant there were no party items to order so I had to make them all. I had special permission from the artist to use his images - but I'm not sure if he would allow it or not... you can always try asking! As for the large plywood cutout - I just used a 4x6 piece of plywood and freehanded Pete and cut him with a jigsaw. I think his overall dimensions were roughly 5 feet tall and maybe 3 feet wide? I tried to make the most out of one sheet of plywood ;) I gave the cutout to a local bookstore so I don't have it anymore to measure :(

This is amazing! My (almost) four year old is entirely obsessed with Pete the Cat, and must have a Pete birthday party. Because Pete wants him too. He carries his stuffed Pete everywhere. I love how you decorated for this. Thanks for all the wonderful ideas!
