Party Recap

This party was for Peter my son’s 4th birthday and the theme was “Under the Sea” .

I wanted to create a party that was bold and bright in colour and have a modern feel to it. ....

I think the invites really dictated the look of the entire event. I particularly loved the scale print on the invite which we then used as part of the backdrop .
Lee-Ann from (Little Poppet Parties) did an amazing job designing the invites. They were super cute , and what i really loved was the matching lolly bags that were given to each child at the party. The detail and care taken to achieve such gorgeous treat bags was to die for.

Both myself and Lisa from ( cakes and biscuits by Lisa) worked very closely in designing some sweets treats that were going to highlight the sea theme.
Sweet whale pops & cupcakes were just gorgeous..... The oyster macaroons that were placed on antique sea shells vessels were beautiful. The birthday cake, well i still cant stop drooling over this.... It was so exciting to finally see the plans, thoughts and discussions between Lisa and i come to fruition....... I wanted Peters cake to be bright and bold and modern at the same time... I also asked Lisa if she could incorporate the scale fish print on the cake as well...... Well what can i say ........I love the bright orange centre and also the scale print air brushing on the cake. We didn't want to over do the coral so just adding a few pieces and of course a little octopus on top was just enough..... This cake really popped in colour and design.......

Noo from (Desert Menu Please) did an exquisite job with those biscuits. The sea horses , the sea shells , start fish and those amazing jelly fish were simply stunning.... Too good to eat......
I also visited an antique shop which i found a girls scout food box with rope handles for which i used as the cake riser. It fit the theme perfectly .

The event was held at home so i transformed what is usually my outdoor room (showroom) into the kids area for the party.
I styled the area with kids tables and chairs and on each chair each child received a deep sea scuba set. I had these made in royal blue and orange and sent to me from the US from Mahalo . These added a cute touch , and each child could pretend to dive looking for treasure or sea creatures under the sea.
I draped royal blue fabric from the ceiling, hoping to achieve the feel of being under water......... The same royal fabric was also used as draping on the candy/desert table, with an overlay of fish netting.

Along with indulging in the candies and deserts from the buffet, the children were also able to create “ their own wall art”.
I bought some frames and placed a picture of a sea creature or animal ( keeping in with the theme) so each child was able to spend time colouring in the picture and then be able to take it home.

I had also bought sea animals such as dolphins, star fish, whales, sea shells etc.... made from ceramic and placed these in a bag with a paint brush and a pot of paint so the children could enjoy painting their own sea creature and again be able to take it home. ( this is the image of the dolphin in the bag ) .

I really tried to think of activities the children would enjoy doing ...... I wanted them to walk away really feeling like they had an adventure under the sea.....

To be honest the highlight of the party for the kids , and i must say for the adults was the live “Marine” show i had organised . Xavier from ( Wildlife Xposure) really had us all excited. We were fortunate enough to witness sea creatures such as star fish, gorgeous little seahorses , baby shark, sea urchins, and believe me when i say a blue ring octopus......
All the kids got to touch and feel all the animals(except the octopus of course) and learn about the animals that life beneath the sea.... i cannot tell you how much the kids enjoyed this... In fact Peter wanted to keep the shark .....

While the kids were enjoying painting, colouring in their wall art , face painting, and then being part of the Marine show , the adults had their own separate area to retreat too.

I styled the adults tables and chairs with some beautiful fresh flowers, royal blue vases, sea shells and aluminium crabs. The weather was just divine so everyone was outside enjoying Melbourne weather.
At each adults place setting i placed a blue favour box which included a star fish biscuit they could take home, as a thank you for attending Peter’s birthday .
I didn't want the adults to miss out on having a sweet treat of their own .....

After an eventful day the kids were exhausted with all the fun and laughs...... It is such a thrill organising a party for someone so dear to my heart.

Hope you really have enjoyed my story and pictures.
